Hour Twelve: Dusk
Dusk
The full moon takes her throne over the lake
Shines her glory over its surface, to its depths
Crowns the canopy
Arouses fresh panic in tiny creatures
prey for owls and bats

Dusk
The full moon takes her throne over the lake
Shines her glory over its surface, to its depths
Crowns the canopy
Arouses fresh panic in tiny creatures
prey for owls and bats
A vision that propels the ship
into the ocean, against the tides;
aware lightning can strike anytime
The strategy that steers the mast
in the correct direction, to counter
the fierce waves or float along
The lonely call of an occasional seagull,
the silence as water surrounds all sides,
with message that survival depends on self
The support of hazy reflection of sunshine,
the warmth of darkness that provokes soul,
intensity of nature in absence of distraction
Like the pearls submerged deep in
the beds of the sea, the conviction
that keeps the shore in sight is…
Faith
Candlelit dinners create conversations
And sounds of silent spaces
Inbetween Words
Or exchanging of looks
Give samples of you
Revealing interests
Causing revel in imagination
We intoxicate to sedate
Our minds, and not to deny
Our bodies
We rather be sublime
And in the moment
So we relish in food
And good news
While our similarities take over
Creating familiarities
Basic formalities lead to natural selection,
Animal instincts lead to weekends in review.
I wish for a sleep so much
I wish for my blanket to touch.
I wish you good luck who stay for more
I can’t reach my bed
I must sleep on the floor…😘
I took the Jeep and drove to the Lake,
I blew a tire, I can’t catch a break!
What is worse I had no spare,
My phone had no signal, I was stuck out there.
Besides my dog I was all alone,
I felt an ache creep up under my breastbone.
I pitched my tent, gathered firewood, for it would be dark soon,
Listening to the cricket’s serenade, we sat by the roaring fire. Under the moon!
Everything happens for a reason
I knew it through the pain
The excruciating throbbing
The tightness in my neck
I knew it through the medication
The morphine
The blood thinners
The anesthesia
I knew it through the blindness
The blackness
The fear
I knew it through the sleepless nights
The bad dreams
The others’ screams
I knew it through singing Hey Jude
In the same hospital
John Lennon took his final breath
I knew it was not here where I would take mine
I knew there was more to do
I knew there was more to be
I knew there was something to learn
I knew I had been given the chance
The chance to change my life
I didn’t know what it was
What this was meant to be
But this I knew, I knew it true
I had to trust, for only because
Everything happens for a reason
And in that I truly believe
Fishing under a bright moon,
do these creatures know what’s happening?
I think about their feelings,
how they must feel when we throw our lines out.
If they even think about it,
is it intrigue, or more along the lines of panic?
The trees above form a canopy,
bugs and birds chirp in a cacophony of voices.
Individualism lost,
they bounce their chorus off the lake.
Everything in between feels it,
from the muggy, humid air to my thin breastbone.
Maybe I’ll spare the fish,
just for tonight I’ll go home hungry.
Lights and sounds strobe around me
Sleep deprivation creates phantoms flashes
Almost taking form
Like traffic speeding by
Eyes Open!
Awake!
I make myself small.
I make myself fade.
Heart racing
Mind numb
Calm and still
So no one notices
No one sees
No one hurts
Eyes Open!
Awake!
Unsafe to be here
I stand on shaky ground
Too tired to move.
Too scared to stay
I gather my things
And walk into the darkness.
On that perfect drive in your silver Jeep
We rode to the Lake
With the pink Moon
Lighting our way
Glory beat from our chests
As I awaited to be laying under the Canopy of stars
with my head adhered to your Breastbone
