Prompt 7
Anti-Angst
Don’t sweat it.
I get it.
Don’t fret it, don’t fear it.
I don’t want to hear it.
I’d rather stay gloomy,
All grumpy and doomy.
Two is a crowd.
I’m not sharing my cloud!

Sweet angst
Come to me
With all your turmoil and tears
Only through you
Do I move forward
Not back again
A heartfelt prayer whispered
In the stillness of the night
Lingers in the silence
Until the morning light
The Suns mighty rays burst forth
And thrusts it to the sky
Then is gently carried
By a breeze passing by
It makes its way toward Heaven
Where a messenger awaits
To take it swiftly onward
To a throne beyond the gates
The prayer engulfs the throne room
A melody it brings
The King bends in to listen
As the soul within it sings
With great trepidation and much perspiration I write 12 poems to prove my poetry is beast. Realizing that my angst is unwarranted because my poetry maybe admired by others, but it was always solely meant for me.
I don’t want your money
or jewels
or wind in my sails
I won’t ask for the moon
or the stars
or shelter from either
I just want to pray
together
for the sake of prayer
we don’t have to agree on words
or say anything at all
or supplicate the same deities
or supplicate anything at all
I just want to pray…
Looking down at us
Eagle turned to fly away
For him that is prayer

People in pain
They lie
Just like the rain
They cry
People who worry
Hide behind fiction
Always in a hurry
To escape a mind of friction
Whether to protect those we love
Or escape critique
Lying to those above
The situation is quite unique
So the truth is
Our voices are controlled
No matter what words are his
There’s always truth behind the lies
Trust , easier said than done,
Games , easier played than won,
Love, can make the smart , dumb,
Lust, have made love feel numb.
Trust, can get you hurt or killed,
Games, will hurt you or give you thrills,
Love, can make you have the greatest high,
Lust, will make you feel as though you can fly.
All these feelings will bring you up and down,
You can get hurt or mess others around,
It is like a game of cat and mouse,
Just two people playing a game of house.
The Robot’s Lament
I had waited more than a century,
After the ancient ones had taken flight.
Keeping a quiet vigil, patiently
I stood there through bright days and starry nights.
The creature came, its ship awash with lights.
So small it was, and to me, quite unknown;
Although it had regarded me with fright,
At last it seemed I would not be alone!
Then I did err, for which I can’t atone –
In my great haste, I failed to understand
This alien was made of flesh and bone.
I picked it up, and held it in my hand,
I found my probing finger was too strong
And now my bloodstained hand proves I was wrong.
I don’t hate the world when I wake up.
I am not instantly ashamed if I make a mistake.
I don’t apologize as much for said mistake.
I have the energy for my hobbies.
My apartment is relatively clean.
I am actually cooking meals.
I can be alone without being consumed by darkness.
I can talk to strangers without worry.
My mind isn’t constantly full of self-doubt and detriment.
Sometimes that is all a lie.
Most of the time it is true.
I heard a dog howling….and i wish i could howl out too…instead i am snapping and yapping at everyone…i am talking nasty…and though i should be ashamed of my behaviour…i actually feel cruelly relieved.
I am numb
And i am frightened
Of this person i am becoming
Either feeling too much
Or not giving a damn
Dont want to budge
And dont want to run away
I hate this
I want to scratch away this nasty feeling from my face
