Just follow where the path lead
Up and down the hill
24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
So numb
So aimless
So disinterested
A general, all encompassing lethargy and indifference to life
Nothing matters
All decisions are mundane ,superficial
So transitory
I cant save myself anymore
I am lost.
Just getting into it
My wit as just found me
Nerves got the better of me
Feet in the ground
Trying to hold a firm grip.

I am just another drone
I work, I sleep, I dare not dream
They pat my head and throw a bone
It’s not a life I can disown
No matter how it makes me scream
I am just another drone
It sits on my chest like a stone
That there is no “I” in team
They pat my head and throw a bone
I will never sit upon a throne
Eating scones with clotted cream
I am just another drone
No point in uttering a moan
I’m held fast in their tractor beam
They pat my head and throw a bone
I’ve gone from maid to mom to crone
I know freedom’s a pipe dream
I am just another drone
They pat my head and throw a bone
OH MY GOD
Bubble tea, cream cheese
milkshakes, icecream
why do you leave me so bereft
when all i want is one taste
i want so much to have you
and eat you and drink you
because that’s what we’re meant to do
I think you wont hurt me but you do
I keep coming back for more and it is
SOOOO GOOD
But a few hours later comes the pain
the bubbles the rumbles
the roiling the burning
why do you make me feel this way
I can’t be around people when you act
like this
I’m just going to take a few deep breaths
and step outside for a moment
to let all this hot air you’ve built
up inside me
release in private
I can’t let anyone know how miserable
you make me
They don’t understand they’ll just say
they told me so
and
I keep doing it to myself
But they don’t know what we have is so
good when its good, you make me so happy
and then you don’t.
I guess I’m in for the evening;
I need some quiet time to reflect,
and anyways,
I’ll be too busy farting
and trying to avoid sharting
To have people trying to comfort me tonight.
Dear pen, will you please bleed and die to the last drop.
I’ve a wound so deep
There is blood in my mouth, and an ocean uneasy in my eyes.
Dear pen will you please bleed and die.
I’ve a story to tell but words so not ready to pour
I’ve a memory to forget but it is a moment engraved now.
Dear pen will you please bleed and die.
I broke a rule today
I didn’t know. I didn’t mean to play.
I called them out, I made a shout
I didn’t know that that’s not what it’s about
I shouldn’t have done that, I know that now
Next time I’ll just write the story about the cow
There’s no other way to it,
Quite simply I blew it.
I guess I’ll just die here.
Or just disappear.
I can’t believe I did that.
From his view he sees the flame alluring Calling him to dance without shame
He flew closer closer to temptation And circled the reddish beauty beyond imagination
It’s warmth and its beauty Both calling both tempting
Irresistible he can’t resist So closer did he get
They flirted they danced Oh flame oh flame you got hold of my hand
And she licked yes she licked His tiny flappy wings
And off he went down Far down far below
Feeling sorry for himself It’s his fault true we know
The flame so inviting the flame so pretty Just deceived him and burned him
Breaking him to pieces Leaving the world he’ll surely miss
His life turned to waste
A true chance of happiness
Sorry so careless.
Curly hair and an impish grin,
Merry green eyes and a confident chin,
When he winked at me I got butterflies,
He wasn’t afraid to look into my eyes,
He told me he’d buy me an ice cream cone,
And then he said he’d walk me home,
Will you meet me here tomorrow? He asked.
I told him I would and I thought this might last.
The next day I came to the very same spot,
Hoping he’d be in the place that he ought,
But I waited and waited for nearly an hour,
My beautiful dreams had begun to turn sour,
I started to look for him everywhere
Then slowly realized he wouldn’t be there,
My anger built up til I thought I would burst,
He must have found some other girl first.
A woman walked by with a tear on her cheek,
I asked if I could help, but she couldn’t speak,
Finally she looked at me and wearily spoke,
“My son is has been killed and I haven’t much hope,”
Her son was the boy with the curly hair,
The green eyes and wink that was too much to bear,
He’d been hit by a car on his way home that night,
And there was nothing to do, no way to fight,
Since that day I’ve been thinking how tragic is life,
Where a soul can so quickly leave this place of strife,
I never really knew him, at least not for long,
But I feel that a part of me is suddenly gone.
His mother and I remain friends to the end
The last twenty years we have started to mend.
I’ve gained a sweet love, but I’ll never forget,
How that dear boy’s eyes looked on the day we first met.
Train of thought derailed
by quick walk to book store,
my order of picture books in.
Running my fingers through the pages,
across the words,
savoring the art
admitting I can never do such work,
vowing to find a way.
To splatter my carmine words across an indigo sky,
I embrace the Dali in my brain voice,
we melt across the sundial in the library lawn.
