Hi

I’m Liz from Edinburgh, Scotland but originally from Yorkshire, England . Looking forward to my first PoetryHalf Marathon. Been writing poems on and off for about three or four years but lost my mojo somewhat this year,  so looking forward to getting back on track and reading everyone else’s poems when the challenge finishes.

2023 Intro

I am a Mexican-American writer from Southern California. This year is my third attempt at the Poetry Marathon. I completed it in 2019 but not in 2021, and after another lull I’m hoping to make it this year with support from my friends. Wishing everyone a lovely day of writing and hoping for lots of fun!

Sending love,

V.R. Dannenberg

Introduction

Hello! My name is Cali, and this is my first time participating in the poetry marathon! I am usually a long-form fiction writer, but I am looking forward to the challenge! 🙂

Testing…

Hello fellow poets and marathon people,

This is my first challenge. I mainly write longer fiction pieces so I’m looking forward to writing 24 poems. I’m planning my snacks and sharpening my pencils. Not entirely sure where I will have to post the poems? Here, or Facebook, or the associated site? I’m in Ireland so I’ll be starting at 2 in the afternoon.

Introduction!

Greetings everyone!

My name is Sarena and I hope you’re all as excited as I am to push through and complete this marathon! It’s my first time participating in The Poetry Marathon or any poetry challenge really. A handful of friends, my lovely boyfriend and I will try and keep each other accountable throughout the full 24 hours of the challenge (along with some yummy snacks).

As for my experience with the poetry scene, I casually write and enjoy this form of expression. I first started writing poetry with the encouragement of my Conflicts’ professor, which soon snowballed into me becoming the host of the on-campus poetry show, Verse Come Verse Serve! My time during college solidified my love for poetry and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Cheers!

Sarena

Poetry half marathoner

Hi Everyone! So excited! So are we all going to be posting here every hour that we write, is that the idea?

I’m a poet from Portland, Oregon (although I grew up in Jos, Nigeria! Shout out to all the Nigerians here.) I’m disabled from long covid and have a book of poetry out I’ve written wrestling through that experience (‘Salt’, available on Amazon). I’m hoping to write poetry and fiction as a career. I’m so glad to have a community event like this to challenge myself and to be encouraged by your writing!

Introduction

I am Jimoh Abdullah O., a graduate of linguistics and a lover of creativity.  I’m a natural language processing enthusiast and a budding poet whose works have been published on Kalahari Review and Mudroom. I sometimes write article/essay too. He appreciates creativity and innovative ideas.

Hello!

I’m so excited for this year’s marathon . . . well, let’s be honest, any year’s marathon. I look forward to this from the end of one marathon to the beginning of the next. It gives me such joy to have a solid twenty-four hours to spend not only writing poetry, but also getting to know new friends and greet old ones again. Many thanks to our moderators once more, and greetings new poets. May your muses all be well hydrated and awake. 🙂

2023 Introduction: Erin Lorandos

Hello, fellow marathoners!

My name is Erin and this will be my third year participating in The Poetry Marathon. I am committed to the half, but I’m hoping to challenge myself to do more!

I write mostly free verse and found poetry. I am also interested in fiction. I am also helping to support the Marathon by editing the online anthology this year. More on that later!
