Just saying hi

This is my first time, so I signed up for the half marathon and am excited to experience the challenge. I also look forward to reading what others write.

Poetry Marathon

Hello!  I’m so excited to start getting ready for the marathon this weekend.  I’m hoping this gives me the jumpstart I need to get back into writing poetry daily.  Good luck fellow poets!

Stimulus

I’m looking forward to the marathon because of its potential to impel me to produce completely new work. Working with prompts on the spur of the moment seems like a great way to start a new chapter. It took me decades to publish my first collection BEAUTIFUL CORPUS in 2020 with Kelsay Books. I’ve written a number of new poems since, and aim to get more out in the coming months. Whatever comes of the marathon, I am so happy to face this opportunity with renewed hope and fresh energy.

Hello

Hi. I am trying the half marathon for the first time. I am looking forward to having a very creative weekend!

Hello, Folks!

It’s me again, Kell the Quill, back for more random acts of rhyme-ness.

Just the half again this year, since that technique worked so well for me last time. I’m planning to—

Wait, respecting one’s physical limits isn’t a technique. What’s the word I’m after? Talent? No! Trick? Eh, not exactly

Tactic! That’s the bunny! That tactic worked for me last time. Yes. I forget words sometimes. It’s a thing. I might write a poem about it, if I can figure out how.

Anyway – when not rambling on about my deficiencies, I write speculative fiction. I also dabble in song-writing, game design, and yarn-crafting. One day I hope to discover what I’m good at; in the meantime, I’ll keep on making good art stuff.

My sense of humour is unapologetically British (or rather, English) and my influences are many and diverse. Hey kids, how many can you spot?

First Year Poetry Marathon!

Hey everyone! It’s going to be my first year completing the poetry marathon (my girlfriend and I are hunkering down to do it together, YAY!!). I am a SoCal-based visual artist with a BFA in Animation! I have a love for all things poetic and I am fascinated by the interplay between poetry and illustration. I plan to release a chapbook this winter for the first time ever!

I am also intensely into rock climbing, birding, storytelling, and learning new things!

Other marathons I have completed include a 3-year run of the 24 Hour Animation Challenge, where our team of 5 finished every time! I learned a LOT from that experience (including how many snacks to have stocked up, lol) and I feel that will help us both during this challenge!

I hope everyone has fun and we all make it through in one piece! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

So not me

Hi, I’m flossie, I am from Chattanooga, Tn. And I enjoy writing. I hope to stick with it. I love to write just not about myself. Everything I find a place to write you have to write an intro, not me. Then everyone seem to be competing to say so much. Everyone talks about their education, their experience and everything they have done up to this point.  I just want to write, that’s it.

If you want to know about me, then that is me. I don’t feel the need to write a page or two. Like I said I hope to stick with it, not looking good. I’m told to write and this is it.

First time Marathoner

My name is Mikki Mendelsohn and I have been writing poetry for some years but only recently sending it out with some successes. I have about12-14 poems published and a book on Amazon called “Chasing Moonbeams” I am ready with another book, but my memoir is being edited- it is called “Rabbi, Your Cleavage is Showing” and represents the slice of life when I decided to become one of the first female rabbis. I am a Rabbi as well as an attorney. I sing and have studied voice for years and I am currently teaching in a private school- English, creative writing, history, economics, government and Latin and Hebrew!  I think that the half marathon will get my juices flowing and be a lot of fun, too and I am looking forward to participating.

Poetry Marathon 2023

After editing the half-marathon last year, I am back again this year as an eager participant! I have been busy since the 2022 Poetry Marathon with all things, poetic… I offered a ‘Playing with Poetry’ workshop online via Zoom and will now be presenting it in person at ‘Write on Bowen’, in beautiful British Columbia, in mid-September. My poem, ‘The Orange Door’, took second place in the Muriel’s Journey Poetry Prize and will be forthcoming with the other winners of the contest in an anthology called, ‘Fire From the Heart’, this Fall. I also recently learned that a poem from another contest I entered, ‘The Ekphrastic Challenge’, is published online: ‘sleepy hollow’, after the painting, Hills and Rivers, Steamboat at Sleepy Hollow, by John Kane (USA) 1929. I am looking forward to meeting and writing with other poets this coming weekend and wish everyone luck as they begin this creative endeavour!

Beyond my desire. My name is Otti Gloria Obianuju, a poet and aspiring Law student, I reside in Abuja, Nigeria. During the poetry marathon, in all ratification, I aim at reaching the maximal in mind exploration, thinking outside the box, lightening up heads without fire, so through every burn, a muse will be born. I also aim at creating a diaspora for my words, they would leave my head “their home”.
