Raucous Raven chatter echos across the meadow
from the tall trees of the wood stand.
The conversation between them goes on,
discordant growls and low caulks.
I mimic their language not knowing
what I’ve said and wonder if they are listening
to me – sometimes I think there’s an answer.
Weirdly, this reminded me of the ‘bark at your dog’ TikTok challenge. I love the idea of eavesdropping on birds and mimicking their language only to find you’ve now inserted yourself in their conversation because they understand what you’re saying. Very cool!
