Last year was my first year taking part in the 24 hour Poetry Marathon. I was pleased to be successful in writing 24 poems in 24 hours!!

I am a writer, a mother and a ninja. My black cat is my best friend - she has the best ideas! I've been writing for most of my life, but never sharing; not until I found my 'people'. Once I found other writers who just, for lack of a better expression 'get it', I felt safe to share my work and explore other creative avenues. I tend to favor short stories but I have written a few novel-length manuscripts during another writing marathon that is near and dear to me - The Muskoka Novel Marathon - an event where I have been complimented to win the award for Best Manuscript (twice!). I have had short stories and poetry published online and in print and have enjoyed reading my work at several 'Tall Pines Tales' events throughout Muskoka and Haliburton, Ontario. For me, writing poetry is very freeing. There are just some stories that don't need a lot of words to properly express them at their best.

….before the madness begins!
Or is it one more sleep until I loosen the reigns and let the thoughts become what they want to become, let the ideas flow and just go along for the ride?
There is something very freeing about setting everything else aside; the chores can wait and lord knows they will.
This weekend is for me.
Grateful to be here for my first marathon.
