Speech (Hour #4)

This is when the going gets random,

Surprise attack!

My word tank just ran empty,

there’s nowhere the words come from.

Should we retell the story of the ark?

Or sit at a quiet tea party?

I’d rather sugest silence to be a norm,

but I’m afraid that fact society lack;

It excels at bodyshaming, whispering ‘fatty’,

and a combination of red carpets and prom,

while it’s impossible to turn time back,

it’s time to quit acting so petty and be taciturn, for when we-

… listen

quietly

we’ll find

even in the silence

word are

spoken.

  1. I enjoyed this. I might break that final down and space it out to slow it down. A line break after listen and before quietly injects a double meaning :

    … listen
    quietly
    we’ll find
    even in the silence
    word are
    spoken.

    Food for thought. Enjoyed this!
