That’s That Shit

That’s that shit right there, that gets me in the mood.

Baby if you smart, you’ll follow me to our room.

That’s that shit right there, that pisses me the fuck off.

I may have “lost” my religion but I didn’t loose me.

Our God’s ain’t got no beef, if you look underneath.

That’s that shit right there.

That make me be like,ย  “Ooo I knew something wasn’t right.”

That’s that shit right there, that fills me up.

No hot sauce for me.

Cause I’m all the hotness I need.

That’s that shit right there.

That’ll get you fucked up.

Because as the saying goes.

You better check your self before you wreck yourself.

You know.

That’s that shit right there.

That be having me all up in my feelings.

You better move out my way.

You blocking the TV.

That’s that shit right there.

You just got done feeling, thinking, saying, moving your body, neck, head, doing.

Cause this poem is that shit.

That’s right here.

The Covering

As I watched my children sitting underneath the umbrella

I wanted to take a picture

As thoughts of them being covered came to me

Thoughts of they are covered when I am not there

Because I have failed to cover them when I was there

Sending up blessings, smells, incense, thoughts, prayers, blood, emotions, feelings, vibrational healing, protectiveness

Cover them

Florida water, stones and crystals, my intentions, my actions, my Accountability and Responsibility

Cover them Ancestors, Mama Universe, Mother Earth, Mother Nature, Father God, Jesus

Cause even though I no longer believe or better yet agree, like I once did

My husband still does

And our children deserve that covering of

What we know

To be with them throughout their life

So they can live

And so they can fulfill their mission, their duty in this life

Whatever it might be

And wherever it may lead

They’ll be good, great, fantastic, excellent, wonderful fine

No matter what

In the end

Because they are covered

Because of The Covering

That is on, over, below, out, and inside of them

Remind Me

I am good

It took the first hour of this poetry marathon prompt to remind me

Just how good I really am

And not just at poetry

As BEing me

DOing me

Walking in who I am

When I know who I am

And Mama Universe working with life

Is so kind and loving to send me Guidance reminders

Reminding me who the fuck I am

And where I came from

And why I am here

To walk in my Soul’s Purpose

And fulfilling my Life’s Mission

One conversation, one tear, one book written, one foot in the grass, one sale, one anger, one mistake, one lesson, one smile, one joy, one hug from my child, one new memory, one new Life Experience at a time.

Reminding me that my past

My present

And my future

Is all meant to be

And all on me

And if my poetry for this marathon is all about me I won’t make no apologies if and when you decide to read

Because on the flip side

Everything is a reflection

A reflection of the one who sees, chooses, feels, and thinks

Knowing that, innerstand

I am writing about you too

So not only am I reminding me

I Am also reminding you

I Am glad to see you again, poetry, my friend, my lover, my counselor, my solace, my soul, my gift.

It’ been too long and not at the same time since we’ve seen each other.

Been together. Like we were before.

I Am sorry that I’ve been gone for so long

I’ve been transcending and ascending

Going above and beyond myself

On my journey of knowing, living, and loving me

I mean, I know you know

You’re inside of me.

I Am glad that you haven’t left me you were there for me when I turned the page over and over again

Inside joke, between you and me. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜˜

I Am here taking advantage of me and an opportunity to be united with you again as one

So close, like we once were all those years ago.

I Am sorry that I slowly let you go

As I slowly let myself go and get lost in a rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ

Of wifey, mother, sister, daughter, friend, servant, Chameleon

While forgetting that you, me, are the waters that make them so.

I am sorry for my Blurred Vision

When I looked at my reflection

I Am thankful that my reflection was and is always me

And the vow that I put in me

I finally rose ๐ŸŒน to the occasion to apply it to me.

And here writing this now

With the first hour’s prompt of this poetry marathon

That I Almost Missed

Just confirms, reaffirms, reminds me

As I Am doing more than Singing

My life is Right On Vibeโ„ข

We are both Cosmic and Ancient

Almost Missed It

I also missed, missed this

I was sleeping soundly with my children on me

I didn’t turn on an alarm because I trusted my body

Just yesterday I was talking about the brothers, Sleep and Death, with my daughter

Saying, how I wanna do better

About not dying and sleeping my life away

When I wanna be living

I got so much to live for

That I don’t want miss it

Don’t wanna sacrifice myself anymore

Missing me because I am time

And it’s time for me to live

Live right for me

But I can’t do that if I’m sleeping

Or if I’m dead

So grateful I got up in

The time that was designated to write this

Because I almost missed it

I almost missed me
