Here, in this
Observation Mountain
towering above the earth,
that’s where, we
are told,
The Big Eye
watching
over creation sits
documenting good
deeds and ill –
or delegating
to Its zillion
auxiliaries, including
the elements
the four winds,
waiting patiently
for Reckoning
when the book
of records shall
stand in judgment
Love the title and how apt the words pertain to it.
Weather and reckoning… beautiful.
Thank you. It was a response to the prompt for the hour.
I totally identify with the subject matter and the sarcastic undertone. However the popular teachings contradicts with some of the images presented. I don’t think Mountain captures the intention as much as Throne would. And instead of towering above the earth, I would prefer ‘high above the earth’. These are personal thoughts anyway.
In reading several of your poems, I see a use of language and poetic technique that is similar to my own. A sparseness of language, poetic and rhetorical devices, and a definite rhythm to drive your point. I could make this comment to several of your poems, but this poem is a very good example.
Thanks. I’ve gone to look at your work and I see the resemblance and I’m like, wow! Let’s keep up our good work. Who says cross-border collaborations can’t happen from here?
