Hour 9
The moon has always been here
Watching us change the earth
Seeing us try to capture beauty
And we see the moon as beauty
Try to show its likeness on paper
On film
On clay
On any media we can use
For the moon has always been here

I’m now trying to remember where I recently read someone (may have been Elizabeth Rush in Rising) describing one point on the earth’s timeline—namely, the birth of the moon—as the planet popping out its satellite. Never heard it described in such a way, but the sort of whimsical/comical/sweet process is now stuck in my head.
Oh I like that idea of whimsy/comical. I can see why it’s stuck in your head!
