Beliefs
My Monstera Adansonii leaves
Have large gaping holes
Where light breaks through on the other side.
Leaves with windows she said.
If you peer through them you can see
The soul of the world outside.
Sometimes you can see the world
Beyond.
That’s why the leaves have slits, she said.
Then she lit camphor to drive spirits away
This poem is my favorite of yours. I
Love the spiritual quality of “Beliefs”. My favorite lines:
“Sometimes you can see the world
Beyond/That’s why the leaves have slits, she said” These words spoke to me.
@tammibelko, thank you so much for taking time to visit! Much appreciate your comment!
Came to say this is my favourite, interesting to see it is also someone else’s favourite! And my favourite line? The same one as mentioned above 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment! I’m so glad that you enjoyed it as well!
‘leaves with windows’… ‘the soul of the outside world’… so much said in this poem – especially the last line! Love it!
Thank you much, Cristy! <3
The leaf as a window to the other side of life.
The leaf as a mirror of life.
The leaf as a call to action.
Again, sounds simple but reads deep.
In line 4, comma after window.
