Her Silver Lining

Shimmering silver highlights
Flowing from her crown

that teasing twinkle
cast from the corner
of her eye

A smile
sinfully lays

Poetry Wars

The plans were stolen, our hopes now awoken, our heroes must evade

The way is fraught, with plots and thought, our enemies to evade

Then captured short, our ship a fort, the princess to defend

The evil lord, has come aboard, this looks to be the end

A brilliant plan, with hopes that span, a galaxy and an age

The plans to send, the mission to mend, take to a distant place

A mechanical steed, will do the deed, on to a distant place

Time Will Tell

© A. Potter ~2021

The clock reads
Four, three, two

Capturing my attention
At a time, I was looking
For inspiration

The countdown
had begun
the Marathon
not quite yet run

Just over halfway
To triumph

How are we?

Already this far
Still longing

To go
that extra mile

Normalcy is Overrated

Mitch Brown

Hr 7

Normalcy is over rated

I keep hearing about normal. But what’s really normal?

No masks? People wore them before.

Proper attire? No shoes, no shirt, no service.

Business closing? Daily occurrence.

Vaccinations? Jonas Salk anyone?

We have been normal all along.

Abnormal is a state of mind.

What we are is indoctrinated.

And that’s the new normal.

Saturday Stroll

Out at dawn

Her favorite trail

Open, before her

Soles, strumming the dirt

she finds a rhythm

Her heart, picks up the beat

Lifting her face

to the sky

She smiles

Inhaling deeply

Fresh Air

Sunshine

the path varies

Shadows

cast and tossed

Birds twittering

Tickling the air

ground creatures

Scuttle

Rustling the leaves

in the underbrush

All this savory

Sensory

Grounds her soul

Perfect reason

for a

Saturday stroll

Taking my time

Mitch Brown

Hr 6

Taking my time

Taking my time, seeing the sun, feeling it on my face.

Hearing the soft footpads, making me slow my pace.

Listening to the wind as it brushes past the trees

Stopping to say thank you, falling on my knees.

A day spent in the woods, one should never ignore.

Though it has been so forever, it has never been before.

First one foot, then the other, stresses are erased.

A day spent basking in nature, my mind’s a better place.

What Do You Think

“What do you think?” 4 stanza
© A. Potter ~2021
Hour 4 : The Poetry Marathon
Book chosen: Erma Bombeck “Family- the Ties that bind and gag” [last line: what do you think]

What do you think
Oh, interrogatory
the mind endlessly spinning
Calmly creating art

Oh, interrogatory
Where does this one lead
Calmly creating art
Pen in hand, she marks

Where does this one lead
Page by page fill with ink
Pen in hand, she marks
Between the lines, she’s free

Page by page fill with ink
What do you think
Between the lines, she’s free
the mind endlessly spinning

“If I Could” a Lyrical Erasure

If I could

save time in a bottle

I’d like to

Everyday til eternity

Make the days

Last forever

Words, make wishes come true

Walk through

the fields of

Time

~ flows

Saved

like a treasure

Around long enough

to know

A box of wishes

Dreams

that never came true

Empty~ except for

the memory

Of you

In a bottle

Mitch Brown

hr 5

in a bottle

Time in a bottle, Jim Croce said it best
A time to remember a time gone by
And a time to let it rest.

A time to remember those who have gone
And to remember those we left behind
A time where conclusions are drawn.

The time in the bottle seems to not be great
A remembrance of another life
When worry was not such a weight.

While looking back across the years
Can bring a slight smile to your face
And remind you of now distant fears

The past is a time you now fondly recall
Before life took its often cruel turn
But today isn’t too bad at all. (more…)

“The Lost Symbol”

Hr 4

Dan Brown “The Lost Symbol”

Hope.

Such a small word, but so packed with power.

Hope.

That thing that keeps us going when all seems lost.

Hope.
The light at the end of the tunnel, the beginning of the end.

Hope.
Something everyone wants, but is missing from many.

Hope.
It will make us succeed.

Or so I hope.
