The Poetry Marathon

I waited for you.
This image played in my heart.
My mind tried to take control.
But you never showed.
In your place,
Was someone with your name.
It wasn’t the same.

I painted you with a brush
Dipped in fantasy
And you walked in here
Painted in reality.

Unsure if I should give him
The heart I prepped for you
Or if I should
Continue this love
In my heart
Alone.

His eyes hold me,
Stuck between
Yes
And
No.

A breath away
From us.
One moment,
One kiss,
And then
He’s mine.

I cannot look away,
Our life plays in my head.
A movie, of forever.

All I need to do
Is send a message
And our future can begin.

I’m not built for this.
I’m a relic of another time.
Where love came in its way.
No, quick fix.
Loneliness
Was our fire.

Now, we are lonely.
In so many ways.
Access granted,
Passwords needed,
Time not required,
A swipe,
A click,
Edited pics,
And we’re in.

I cry a little
For my hopeless case.
An empty future,
A blank screen,
A game not played.

I’m over!

Swiped right,
Moved left
In this adventure with insanity
I dance with devils
At night
In the daylight, I cry.
The angels
Bore me to tears.
So, I swipe again
For another devil
To take just that much more of my soul
A soul I freely give.

Dance with many,
Kiss a few,
Turn the angels,
Make them fall.
It doesn’t matter
If you take them all.
People will judge,
People will cheer,
Chaos will ensue.

Kiss that chaos
And swipe again.

She found him in the dark
In a place unreal
A click and a wink,
A smile
And she is lost
In the way, she believes he is.

Tears
Don’t come with a fantasy
They are a bitter pill
Called reality.

She’s happy in this room.
Alone in the dark
With him
Close but far
Forever hers.
