Hour 3 -The Storm

  1. The ocean is a giant pond.
  2. It is laughing at me.
  3. The salty taste permeates my dry mouth. Debris settles between my toes. The calm waves crash quietly against the air. Deep, blue streaks dart here and there.  The stench of what did not survive fills my nostrils.
  4. The joyous sound of the lonely birds tasted like jam on my buttery toast.
  5. Teddy Swims melodic voice can be heard in room 6-107 at John Hopkins Middle School.
  6. I hate to hear birds chirping.
  7. The continuous noise in my classroom slowly drives me crazy.
  8. No, that’s not cap.
  9. Because I can’t walk my life is over.
  10. Rain, rain go away, come again another day.
  11. The shiny sun of the sad sky is my hope.
  12. The dull knife cut me heart when you left.
  13. The ocean wrapped its arms around me.
  14. Skinny used her caring nature to make it through.
  15. My love for life will be rewarded in the end.
  16. I found all that I needed in my journal book jacket.
  17. My heart will forever keep beating.
  18. Ta grace suffit a mon ame (It is well with my soul).
  19. My soul still cries out.
  20. In the sea of confusion, the ocean keeps me safe.

Hour 2-Gone

Up, up and away

there goes all of my heartache,

disappointments

loss

and all that they encompass…

I am ready for

fresh anointing,

healing from all that

hurt me,

captured me,

bounded me,

sucked the life out of me…

down comes

hope

anticipation

love

and

forgiveness

Hour 1-Love of My Life

The daily longing of my words

shelter the fear inside

keeping me from the thing I am

it’s becoming harder to hide

It is my life, it is my heart

I live for the joy it brings

when I cannot find the words I need

the disappointment really stings

Sometimes the words are right there

so plentiful, my heart is so overjoyed

I can’t get them down fast enough

it fills my empty void

There once was a time that no words were there

I can’t imagine how that ever was

my words are my life, they are who I am

no greater definition of love

Poetry Marathon 2022

Hi guys!  My name is Ramona Jones and this will be my 2nd marathon. I am excited and I cannot wait to write some amazing poems.  I am on my summer vacation and it started off kind of rough.  I am just getting over the flu (it was nasty). I am not 100% yet, but I will be next weekend.  I look forward to reading some your amazing poetry.

Introduction

Hi everyone!  My name is Ramona Jones and I am so excited about the 2021 Poetry Marathon.  Writing poetry is my passion, my thing.  I’m blessed to be able to share my love of writing poetry with my students.  I just finished my 22nd year of teaching.  I teach English Language Arts.

I know that the full marathon will be a challenge, but I am up for the challenge because it will take my writing to another level.

Thank you!
