this year, 2016
hot
humid
thunderstorms
still hot and humid
more storms
repeat

Sometimes I think
too much
Worry
too much
About things
I can’t change
Traits that are
part of me

with listening
listening for meanings
of each word

Garden visitors
chipmunks
snakes
and toads.
Monarch butterflies
and swallowtails
Dragonflies
red, blue and green

Noises in my house
cat crunchy food
cat chasing foam darts
around dining room table legs
fan swooshing air around
AC not enough with high humidity
saws and drills
from carpenter son downstairs
rarely a quiet moment.

unhealthy air
breathing difficult
storms later, maybe
no relief

My shadow
always with me
following close

to murmurs
of secrets
sharing
nothing
in silence.

Can’t believe it
I have a quiet house when I need it
and my muse is gone
missing.
Don’t know when it left
or where it went.
Must have heard about work
a marathon
24 hours of creativity.

nutritious snacks
not junk food
I’ll rest up before ( we all know how that worked…too excited to rest)
None of this works
24 hours is a long time
to be awake and functioning
