24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
This is my third marathon. The first two were interesting over the past two years most of my writing has consisted of short statements on daily life, politics, and philosophy posted to Facebook in addition to an occasional poem and some informational documents. I have been writing off and on for many years but only writing poetry for about 13 years. Looking forward to this challenge and making new friends and reading some new poetry.
Who is it she sees
Coming for thee?
Is that concern in your eyes
Or just your distain?
Might it be your husband’s approach to go to the play
Or is your lover coming to take you away
Will you soon smile as he arrives or turn away
And strive to leave.
I cannot tell what is in your mind
And you will not tell me you are not so inclined
Soon the answers will be known
When you no longer stand alone.

Birds they sit upon the wall
Waiting for the feeders to fill their bill
Lizards sun themselves upon the steps
And bath under the sprinklers mist
Spider love the dark cool spaces
To weaver their webs in likely places
Javelins like to sneak
Upon my porch for flowers to eat
All creatures great and small
Will use our structures just like a mall
The Earth is light
The Earth is dark
It’s not just the day
Nor just the night
In our hearts
And in our souls
Light we make
Or darkness unfolds
It’s what we say
And what we do
That spreads the light
Or darkness do
The choice is ours to share the light
Or plunge the world into the night
A drink that brings serenity
Boiled water steeps the fragrant leaves
Chai the spiced and milk emboldened tea
Delectable teas all varieties
Even eggs can benefit from a bath in tea
From flavors of tea bold to light
Green are the leaves of vegetal teas
Healthy and happy and herbicide free
I choose this drink as my brew lemon free
Loss
It came to me
Unannounced, unwanted
My wife it took with sure speed
She died
Frodo knows his fateful quest
He wonders if he can pass the test
The task is great he grew to know
The evil in the world did grow
Each day the darkest covered more
Frodo wished he did not know the score
The ring he knew sought to leave his hand
Its master he knew sent his command
Frodo left with friends in tow
To complete his quest, he had to go
He knew the darkest seeking his ring
The wraiths were moving seeking his bling
The Earth Mother has been with child
The child has mother much beguiled
The child he kicks then kicks some more
His mother shakes down to her core
The humans know for when he kicks
The Earth, it quakes and breaks their bricks
Yes Ruau-Moko is never calm
And Papa can’t escape not even in Guam
So the next time you feel an Earthquake
It is just Ruau-Moko making Papa shake
Frogs
Are caught
By children
And kept in jars
With luck, they return to the pond in evening
Their life spared adds new mystery next day
When children once more
Catch their frogs
Once more
Jars
Sunlight decreases energy gone
No one can say why this is so
The light shall go as will we
When plants die so will we
Animals to die
Cold Earth
Dead
