The Poetry Marathon

It is difficult to write when

A mountain of schoolwork sits

Waiting to be completed.

The shrill ringing telephone

distracts each creative thought

A television blasts fake humor

Throughout every room’s corner

Ideas are few and far between

Making poetry hard to compose

Through my frustrations

I write with an erasable pen

Which covers my silly mistakes

That can easily be corrected.

I write with brightly colored paper

So new ideas are clearly seen

Making poems easy to understand

To relieve severe tension

That wrecks havoc on my body

Hi!  My name is Brittany, and I am very excited to be a part of this marathon.

My plan is to spend the 15 minutes composing the poem.  Then posting on the site.  As far as the night time goes.  I am setting an alarm every hour on the hour.  Gonna compose my poetry, and go back to sleep.  It will be a long night but well worth it.
