Like cliffs in the distance
seen through a window
on an island in time
What a great mystery
is the rock we stand
high upon in the sky
Surrounded upon an ocean
of waving growing green
to the tallest tree
With a poem in mind
a song upon the heart
a whisper in the soul
Will it crumble to the ground
in small terrible pieces
or in a once great tumble
What will become of us
once the pillar falls
and time swallows us whole

This is my third year of joining the Poetry Marathon. I really enjoy the challenge. I have been writing poetry for over 30 years. I enjoy the way my words can release my emotion, thoughts, and interest. Poetry was introduced to me back in the 80's in grade school and has lived within my soul ever since. I appreciate the opportunity to join such talented and interesting poets. Good luck to us all. So excited!
She Took A Photo
She took a picture
one long forgotten
buried under age
She took a picture
a moss covered
walking bridge
She took a picture
standing in the
long green reeds
She took a photo
capturing her
loveliest memory
I’m Making Waffles
Tonight I clean up
the kitchen
Tonight I wash
the dishes
Tonight I finish
the laundry
Tonight I vacuum
the floor
And in the morning
I’m making waffles
Tonight I pick up
the toys
Tonight I sweep
the floor
Tonight I organize
the desk
Tonight I read
the book
And in the morning
I’m making waffles
Tonight I do it all
the cleaning
Tonight I think of
tomorrow
Tonight I plan
ahead
Tonight I get tired
and sleep
And in the morning
I’m making waffles
My Autumn
She watches the wind
chase the grass
Listens to the birds
tweet about the day
Her eyes grow so big
her ears go side to side
Her belly grows so wide
she wobbles along
No longer able to pounce
just waits to be served
She’s still so sweet
my pregnant kitty
