Rock, Paper, Scissors
(Inspired by my painting, ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS)
They challenged us.
Rock, Paper, Scissors, a game of competition,
create a painting with this theme.
Being one who dislikes competition
and the oft arising conflict,
I determined a way
to unify these disparate parts.
Scissors formed trees.
Stones became rocks.
Paper created ground texture
and paint detailed and unified the whole
Are we capable of re-writing our conflicts in this way?
Can love and acceptance provide the paint
and our actions be the brushes
to unify us,
to bring all people together?
I love the sentiment of this poem and I really love your painting! You’re so talented!
Thank you so much. This was an interesting painting to create and followed a theme of my life. And the poem simply put words to that idea of collaboration and working together.
I love the painting and that you used it as a prompt in such a creative way! Great poem!
Thanks so much for your kind words Sandra… So appreciated…
The trees in the painting reminded me of Zdzislaw Beksinski’s art works. That’s a really cool art and poetic interpretation!
Thank you Bavishya. I didn’t know Beksinski’s work until you mentioned his name. His work is so powerful – disturbing, yet certainly an interpretation of where our world is headed if we don’t start working together.
You are an artist – with colours and words equally!!!
Thank you for your lovely comment!
It is such a gift to be able to express your thoughts visually in words and in painting. It really brings home your thoughts in a creative way. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks again Debra for commenting on this poem as well.
If I go out and get a rock… then I have all the materials.
