I actually didn’t read that prompt until after I’d done this one. But when I did I had to chuckle at the coincidence. This was during the 5-or-so hour period where I set my alarm, did a haiku, then got some sleep, rinsed and repeated.
They all took on the Wonderland theme; White Rabbit, Dormouse, March Hare, Mad Hatter, and Queen of Hearts. I like this one the best; glad you like it too!
Alice (and other Girl in A Strange Land type stories) often pops up thematically in my writing (and my taste in books/film/etcetera).
hmm something about Alice that draws you in. Symbolism, similarity or quite possibly it’s quite true we’re all a little mad in here… (I believe this!)
I think it’s also the promise that there’s another world just out of sight; down a rabbit hole, or through the wardrobe, over the rainbow, or the second star to the right and straight on til morning.
This made me smile.
If this was targeted at the prompt to use a character from a book or movie I think …
I also used Alice in Wonderland.
It’s exactly what she would have said. I have no doubt.

Indeed. As you can see, I’m not all here.
I do delight in madness.
