24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
what i would do-
just to go back in time…
Just to be able to-
save her
right my wrongs
do things over
What I would give
to be able to see her again
As a kid I made gifts for
special occasions
birthdays, Christmas –
parents, grandparents,
aunt, uncle
hangers-on
all got something made
by my own two hands.
for a few years it was
something acrylic
clear, encasing some
object or picture deemed
worth of enshrinement
by me
poured into molds in our
basement workshop
One year, it was candles –
all the rage in the ‘70s
I specialized in funky owls
There was also my
bottle cutting phase – less
successful, as goblets
made from full size
wine bottles proved
unwieldy to drink from
My main claim to
gift making and giving fame
was courtesy of my handy
dandy rock tumbler
tie tacs, tie bars, broaches,
ear rings
I made them all from
brightly polished
granite and marble –
sometimes even a nice, white
quartz
jewelry not for the
faint of heart
or small stature
even small chunks of
granite
made for
adventuresome earlobe
gymnastics
An only child, my parents would
indulge my varied
creative interest and impulses
and my family
and friends
were the feigned-gratitude
recipients.
Never let it be said that
my gifts came from anywhere
but the heart
And my basement.

The world mocks your effort all they want to see is your accomplishment
You’re a work in progress but nobody wants to hear; they all be like nothing to show for all the pains
Deep down it hurts but you know it’s for a short while and very soon d famzing will start but not everyone believes in themselves and end up loosing their intended goal and divert just to please others
The world is a jungle and everyone is competing to be the apex predator and the king unfortunately there will surely be preys that will be consumed because they’be lost their will to fight
Where is ur will? I ask thee, what makes you, you and differentiates you from the rest, where is your drive?
Oh ye! of little faith, doubting thomas, it’s time to prove to the world wrong and let them hear the roar of a king
Believe in the passion that brings out your vision don’t mind the tension you get about the mission
It’s just a passing phase and you will get through it.
Last summer before his return was dry,
she felt like a scorched field or a thirsty fly.
One day her dad said: ” the bargain is done. You’ll be married.
We’re on verge. There’s a good dowry, who’ll care?”.
“What? You have promised..”
” It is up to me to give a promise and to break it”
“You said “no”. Sit in barn, Change your mind, make it”
In refusing of food she was prisoned
by hands of her parents. The thought was poisonous.
She managed to keep control over her trembling will:
one night she jumped out of window and run behind nearest hill,
where she found a small farm with an old pair
eagily to invite or to hire her or to take care.
Time passed speedily in a new routine on new land
under the same dictate of being a helping hand.
She could not forget her beloved hero promised and waited for so long…
She was singing one prayer and song….
In the time of his return he was desperately seeking her,
her mood rised as wind higher or low.
She was a woman of waiting in unlimited frames
only she could endure a patience and no one to blame.
She kept secretly his shirt given as a pledge of fidelity
perfumed with his smell and making her fell instability.
One day someone knocked the farm ‘s door
she opened it and loosing consciousness fell on the floor.
He saved her from the bottom of meaningless dragging out of well,
he showed her other lands sweeter than in fairy tale
She gave birth to a child in threshold of day and night,
from summer to autumn, from darkness of belly to day light.
It was a planned and desirable child from the beginning,
it was a new happy circle of life in its spinning.
The following images are part of the Poetry Marathon Tradition. They are for you to do with what you want, but they are often used as a way to celebrate your success.
The official list of everyone who completed the half marathon and the full marathon will be released in the next few days.

Brim with confidence.
step into the light.
Shine bright.
Don’t be afraid to dance with your dark side.
Take a trip to the wild side.
I promise it’ll be worth it.
It’s your time to shine.
let the words flow,
let your heart express,
let your soul feel.
Feel the wave of emotions
wash over you like a tidal wave
Surrender to the undertow
-as they dance on paper.
You are going to feel
this immense tiredness in your bones.
Your eyes are going to feel heavy
that is going to tempt you to give up but
don’t you dare do any of that nonsense.
Just write the night away into rejuvenation.
Coffee will keep you functioning.
Sometimes you are going to be full
so full of inspiration, your heart won’t be
able to handle it, your pen won’t be able to keep up…
Remember to take a deep breath,
trust the process and let go,
let the words guide your hand.
Overwhelming and exciting
this journey has everything to offer
and adventure awaits you.
So hop on my dear.

There is an old adage about hope
seeing ‘The light at the end of the tunnel’
An optimist coined that
‘The light at the end of the tunnel may be
an oncoming train.”
A pessimist, hedging his/her bet came up
with that variation
Wyle E. Coyote verified it numerous times.
When it comes to tunnels, and lights therein
I take a more modern-day approach
and just take a plane.

I would never want a dragon as a pet
nor would I want a
griffin, or a unicorn
All fine creatures, but impractical
Godzilla would not suffice
he can’t sit, so training him would
be loaded with issues
I subscribe to the ‘go big or go home’
school of philosophy
where our mascot is an
Abominable snow monster
not just so I could win snowball fights
There is no great mystery here
just a cool creature
for a mascot/pet.
Just call this my abominable poem.

Let’s take a walk
One last time
Through the canopy
And laugh like we’re five
Let’s sit down
Share a worry or two
Dream about days ahead
All the things we know we’ll never do
Let’s reminisce
Of the days we climbed mountains
Of the days you fell, the days I ran
Of risks and hopes and holding hands
Let’s unwind
And look at the stars
As the cold descends
Knowing this won’t last
Let’s breathe together
Wipe a tear away
Sparing ourselves the pain of words
And linger as the end comes to stay.
You can long for something
desire it
maybe even covet it
we are a ‘things’
culture
possession is nine-tenths
of being American
Now in a time of plague
our pestilence
may truly turn out to be
ourselves.
