Knockout (Hour 8)
Poems can elude us
The emoji prompt did that
It punched me silly
24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
I lay on the bed groaning in hunger
Food won’t stay
Not even the liquid ones
My stomach knows no medicine
Even the urine was no therapy
Sound the alarm, I am hungry
Tell the priest to pray for me
As blood is what I need
My fangs are straining
Hoping for a bite
My arms are flapping
Ready to leap for the hunt
Like an evil cape man
I am hungry
Screw the test and sacrifice
A beast won’t fix my hunger
Though ancient and vampired
I too, as you are
Is hungry for love
It didn’t have much choice
When I signed up for fangs
Did sign up for these?

Fierce fists lash out at what cannot be seen – a silent mugger, new and keen,
Being fed lies and rules imprecisely
Too overwhelmed to argue concisely,
They just want everything to be alright,
Y’know, after this fight –
Justified anger has once again missed their target
Vision obscured by a too-vague remark,
They’re in the wrong corner and left in the dark bit…
There’s nobody to trust to just be explicit
Until their mate’s dad’s uncle’s neighbour
Clarifies all
By telling them exactly how it is
Over the garden wall –
You won’t be seeing him in a maskย –
How would this lot get through a war?
He’s tellin’ ya – most of this lot couldn’t get through a door
And all he needs to know is when – at last –
Can he go on the piss?
And he was right, y’know –
You won’t see him in a mask –
Nobody will see him in anything at all,
Not on that ward –
You won’t see him in a mask –
Not even taking his very last gasp
True to his word.
Emoji Poem
(based on my current favorite emojiโs)
Wave to us Tinkerbelle!
look at the rabbit
who looks at time
with two open eyes
loves to wave
rides the waves
but like a bumble bee sans flowers
canโt help but be unhappy
with such horror on the earth.
His inner eagle
needs to fish around to
find an angel with brains.
His starry-eyed smiley face will
then give a thumbs up to
the doctor who is a diamond
in this time of crying.
Donโt be a nerd,
give a thumbs up
thank you to those who
wear masks.
Mothers, fathers, boys and girls.
There are so many types of people in the world.
Not a single person is the same.
Even if the share the same colour eyes, hair or name.
Some are introverts
And some are people experts.
Some like to explore
Some like less rather than more.
There are those who are calm and cool.
And those who are are brilliant at school.
Some like to party or play sport.
Some people are tall while others are short.
Others are shy and soft spoken.
Others are bubbly and extremely open.
Some like sweet, some like sour.
Some talk for minutes and others for hours.
Every person is unique in there own way.
Just remember being different from others is okay.
As a lil’ one
I dreamt of things
Yet to come
Spoke to Spirits
Those that would
Listen
Sensing ~
There’s something wrong
With Me
Praying to a vengeful God
Who, supposedly would save me
Fascinated by flickering flames
And the Knowledge there
Worth seeking
I set out~
Questioning everything
Left pondering
Right or Wrong
Balance is everything.
Life is short, especially with computer devices. The goal is not to be left behind for any amount of time, even if you are as old as I am. Once you get behind, turning on your new device will be challenging without consulting with a gaggle of younger people who may not be able to translate for you. The game will up and you will drift into the dreaded realm of geezerhood lost in some 20th century time warp alone and sad. Creating your own rebus dictionary is essential even if you are terrible at puzzles and hate the aesthetics. It is better to learn hieroglyphics than any other language. Standing still as a political statement while admirable will be isolating. Special old age appropriate yoga poses linked to a particular emoji are becoming more popular and most communities offer such classes. Staying up to date with your operating system, whose shelf life is becoming shorter and shorter, should be as important as taking your pills and getting your exercise. You don’t have to follow your computer into senility. Remind yourself that going from rolled scroll to book form was very difficult.
I feel overwhelmed
Pushed in a deep hole
Find myself climbing out
Not able to breathe
The truth is
I’m a slave in my head
Have everyone’s life on my shoulder
No one’s caring for me
Why is that
The truth isย
I’m screaming for help
No one’s helping me
Whyย
I’m miserable
I’m falling a part
Piece by piece
It seems no one is around to put me back together
The truth isย
Alone
Is there anyone out there going to rescue me
Help!!!
I’m just screaming
Because
The truth is
โO Captain! My Captain!โ
Always makes me think of classroom rebellion
Standing on desks
Ripping out inconsequential sections of books
Trying to find the truth
The actual truth hidden in the words
Instead of what
Our teachers always want us to think
Oh how I love to add emojis
but I can’t always see the faces.
If I don’t have on my glasses
and my throughs are off to the races.
I panic when clicking the wrong one
like a smile instead of a frown.
When my dearest friend is hurting
and their life has turned upsidedown.
So careful when posting a smiley
with a frown or a smile to say,
“I’m adding a heartfelt condolence
in what you’re feeling today!”
