Heart
Forever love
Caress our souls
Our love flow into a love
That was so real
When you put your soul around mine
I knew our hearts
Belong together
Forever

A Poem about A Spider, That Doesn’t Rhyme
Oh, long ago spider
The one that bit my finger while I tidied the garden
A thousand miles from here
I never even saw you
And you must have died over twenty years hence
And yet your venom lingers
Cold in the flesh, numb in the skin
Stiff in the knuckle
I don’t know what color you were
I don’t even know if you were tiny or huge
Or somewhere in between.
Born to win
Born in Sin
Born in wealth
Born in poverty
Born as a winner
Never a loser
number one all the time
Swimming right up at the top.

A flutter-
Wings reaching
Voice
Through whisper:
“Forgive me”
Moon to blame
It’s all child’s play-
Elementary,
Void of shame.
Welcome to this
Agony,
Blessed by cursed
Blood through
Veins,
Crystals pour algae-
It’s all the same
Uncovered
A truth,
A name,
For this pain.
Take this answer
Or
Keep on
The same way.
A stutter:
“To get better”
Only listening
To dark,
Always dark-
The loudest
Coincidence,
The most
Distinguished:
“Forgive me”
sometimes nothing makes sense
you put one foot in front
of the other
brave brave brave
phone lines get tangled
around words left unsaid
a connection is missed
static
your heart yearns
to speak
be heard
relief
a splash of water
on your tired face
not recognizing
yourself in the mirror
knowing that it’s you
disappointed that it’s not
a friend staring back
whats the
point
it’s been worn down to
dullness
mundane
grey boredom
i can’t give a voice to
a being I don’t understand
All we knew at the beginning was the preciousness
of our combined strength, of the iron at our core.
Oxygen, carbon, and nitrogen mingled together
with intense heat, with unquenchable fire.
Two points of light, each caught in the gravity
of the mutual attraction, of the heavenly dance:
A pirouette, circling to a pas de deux, adagio–
Swirling like glittering tulle in the blackness of space.
Suns beget sons when this threshold is overstepped
The Chandrasekhar limit seals their fate.
The heaviness of being, the pressure of the heart
finally expose the true nature of this sacrifice.
When we burst into a supernova, there will be gold.
When we explode into pieces, there can be life.

From my perspective,
headless socialites don’t need to learn how to swim,
they are buoyed up by their falsies,
and the greatest social trauma seems to be the lack of a Brazilian.
For those who have gone off the deep end,
there is a ghost from a 70’s party wearing shiny polyester
doing that dance move with the pointy finger – up and down.
He never knew what happened to him.
Deep down I find ditched wedding rings, multi-colored teaser condoms,
and a lone martini glass rolling across the bottom.
Everyone remains pretty shallow
by comparison,
the deep end is not for sissies.
What if the world changed suddenly? What if one of the laws of science that has always existed, suddenly stopped existing, or the details of the rules changed?
For example what if we woke up one day and gravity as we know it had changed, the pull of the earth would still be strong enough to walk on for us, but some lighter animals such as mice, would struggle. It would be easier to walk but harder to wash the dishes. We would be in big trouble, but it might also be a very interesting world to imagine.
I want you to alter or stop one of the rules of our earth that we count on. The details are up to you and your imagination.
This poem can be very lyrical or very narrative, or anything in between.
It seems it takes events for friends to gather.
Though it is during the mundane days between we wish we saw more of ye.
The weddings and funerals that draw us near, making us think of those dear when we smell the hint of rosebuds.
Our intentions are sincere but our lack of effort keeps us apart for a great while.
So many memories of time gone by and still more I wish to make with ye.
I propose a promise that we choose to make our shared time a reality, if I may.
I discovered the yellow bird
who did not sing
and did not whistle.
he carried a lamp and
located the spot
where the coal mine grew
the canary did not sing
the canary was mute
the canary was never a song bird.
