Framed

He traveled from frame to frame as the pictures on the wall crumpled while he walked inside them.

A child watched as the pictures were altered by the smallest curiousity he could not even see.

Human eyes were not fit to see the abilities such as these but they were capable of seeing what were changed because of them.

Hour Five: Justified

“I know that as long as I live, nothing can justify me…”–Wislawa Szymborska

‘i lift myself in afternoon air,

slow down and think about the wrongs,

when I am trapped and caught in bones and sold, and no one demanded anything else of me.

I could be the highest bidder,

seen gold scatter and purchased, all the riches between the teeth,

clenched my life and grew some more.

I would be justified in all my wrong-doings, justified in the chaos,

that split itself in my chest, where the heart used to be,

a swarming ensued, wasps in the mind, clung and stung all the logic out of me.

I whisper to the judge, cut and fuss about simple things,

I also see you execute every faint, weak dream,

if I could be so justified in all my actions and ask no questions and receive no answers,

for the loose ends, untied and unwind me in the stale afternoon air,

I am undone, and this was the cause, the last of it.

#8 – Humanization (Pantoum)

I stand upon the precipice of knowledge,
knowing the world revolves around nothingness.
Red, yellow, black, and white learned this lesson once,
before man discovered himself as different.

Knowing the world revolves around nothingness,
I prayed to my scarred ancient ancestor,
before man discovered himself as different,
and, he blessed my sword and shield as one.

i prayed to my scarred ancient ancestor,
“How may i survive such a world?”
And, he blessed my sword and shield as one.
His reply was a touch, and said, “Be true chowilawu.”

“How may I survive such a world?
I stand upon the precipice of knowledge.”
His reply was a touch, and said, “Be true chowilawu.
Red, yellow, black, and white learned this lesson once.”

Death and I Have Been Scandalously Intimate For Some Time Now

Slightest flirtation was sordid beginning
Pubescent tears welled into self-infliction
In order to appease the voice of my affliction

Then Death courted me into bed
Disguised as solace, relief
Like all lovers past, He is a lying bastard
Telling secrets, revealing bits I prefer to ignore

Lurking in dark corners of subconscious
He reminds me that we are star crossed lovers,
And meant to be

To Where the Fairies Dance (Pantou)

The bird just flew to where the  fairies dance

A dance of merriment and a dance from the heart

She saw some few who sang in glee

Together nonstop the morning came so free

A dance of merriment a dance from the heart

Can charm every creature and come be a part

Together nonstop the morning came so free

And the creatures up there laugh out happily

Can charm every creature and come to be a part

And the creatures up there laugh out happily

And the creatures up there laugh out  happily

And little bird just his never-ending story.

Ms. Negrita

In April, during the time of tulips,
we revisit the scarlet pimpernel,
princess Irene, the red emperor,
and the queen of the night.

Seeking relief from the aristocratic tulips,
we find solace with the dreaming maid,
Aladdin, Abigail,
and the elegant negrita.

Once, we babysat Ms. Negrita,
the typhoid Mary of lovebirds.
Our parakeet went wild with complicated acrobatics
to impress her. All she would give him

was a deadly infection.

Hour Eight: O. De to The Last Leaf

O. De to The Last Leaf

Through my window spy the tree

Downstairs I hear my family

The trunk is withered much like me

With brittle branches and no green

But downstairs I hear my family’s cheer

My window-tree now whispers clear,

with brittle branches, calm with fear,

“Come with me when I leave, my dear”

My window-tree now whispers close,

shortly after I lie in repose,

“Come with me, and shed the woes

the downstairs family bestows.”

Hour 8

Where am I supposed to be at 35?
It seems like I missed the boat.
All of my friends have children-
But really, I don’t have many friends.

I think I missed that boat.
I feel like I’m the only one.
Is that why I don’t have many friends?
It’s not that I don’t like kids.

I’d like to feel less alone,
But women ask too many questions.
I’m actually really great with kids,
But sometimes things just don’t happen.

The women I know get too personal;
I’m fine with opening up after a time.
Just because things didn’t happen,
Doesn’t mean I’m less of a woman.

I’ve always been an open person,
And the friends that I’ve kept near-
They don’t think I’m less of a woman;
I guess they also tend to be my kind.
