Hour Seven: Pregnant Pause

Pregnant Pause

I awoke in an unfamiliar vehicle, with my husband at the wheel

As we drove, my life-filled belly swelled to greater and greater proportions,

each change in size bringing with it a different person in the driver’s seat

The further we drove, the more blisteringly swollen my belly became

On we trudged, with an unceasing parade of drivers,

not one ever giving me the wheel

The road began to rise and as we reached the summit of the hill

I looked to my right to see a severe cliff with splintered rocks

and angry swells of spume churning

Instead of beginning the descent down the hill

the car suddenly pitched right, sending the car sideways–

burgeoning me first–

down the craggy cliff towards the black water

Prompt 2: Where Were We?

For you, I have so many words

For me, you have none

You live here, a ghost in the flesh

Until the summer passes

And you haunt some other place.

You say, oh hey, I wasn’t listening

Eyes always astray

Awaiting the growth of the

green green grass

to mow, to shear away

Not this year, not this year anyway.

Maybe it was peace at last? Who knew?

We both tried to kill it, though

It’s dying by inches each day.

You’re my invincible friend

And my implacable enemy

But I forget where we were

Were we trying to forgive?

Or trying to separate

So that it will be less sad

When you disapparate?

We’ll just wait and see, maybe you’re right.

And that’s how summer passed

Without any rain to make the grass green again

Do I hold on before it’s too late?

For you I have so many words

But there’s no point in saying them

Because you forgot where we were

Maybe it’s better that way

Maybe it’s not a place we should try

To recall, to retain

Maybe this is not something we should try

To regain.

And How We Dance

We danced each night.
In the soft moonlight.
You reached for my hand;
And brought me to your chest.

We danced body and soul.
Together as one flame.
Your eyes gazed lovingly into mine;
There was no spotlight, yet, we shined!

We moved in fluid gentle motion;
Not one on the outside has a notion.
If they knew we were chosen.
They would cry, they would kneel.

While we danced through the years;
To heal our bodies through such war.
You have whispered secrets to my soul.
Yet, lost the rhythm, and are no longer whole.

You can only dance in my dreams…
Now you are broken at the seams.
As your brain bled upon itself…
You lost that half of yourself.

And still, we dance in our heart;
I am here and there, as you wish.
We speak, we dance in the mind;
You are my knight, one of a kind.

Listen

Quieting my mind
I tune in
Connecting with my deepest Self
I listen with an open heart
No judgement, only Love

Listening for guidance
Trusting what I hear
Knowing that I am always connected
To my divine Source
And so Wisdom flows to me with ease

Receiving total clarity
I am filled with Grace
I relax in Peace
Knowing that all is
And always has been truly well.

Nature Rules

Look how the barnacles

made a skin for the corpse of that ship

and you will see real power.

Open yourself wide

to the government of nature.

You cannot rule

over the sea or even over

the arches of the strangled monastery,

who lost religion, not through

a lack of faith, but from the inability to

control the wild vine.

We are all tied together,

and when one dies so does the other.

The house you live in is a mask for

what you really are.

Separate yourself from your original

life source and

you will not live.

Angst – Prompt Seven

Fear crawls down my spine

Pain thunders in my head

Running is a temptation

I dread what I have to face

Edging closer I peer over

Waves crash upon the rocks below

Breathing deep, I muster courage

I spring forward with little faith

As I fall freely through the air

Angst

Anxious to see you

Nervous about the day

Goosebumps head to toe as I think ahead

Suffering as time all but stands still

Tremble because you are in trouble.

The good kind

dusk #7

dusk

the dark spaces

between the green

cave in to magic

the day recedes

as darkness widens

magic approaches

evening spreads to night

tapping at the window

magic challenges

starless sky beckons fear

tossing her hair

magic laughs

Hour 6 – A Hopeless Friend

Prompt for Hour Six

My old friend, Sadness, I don’t recognize him anymore these days. For one thing, he’s been partying too much. I go to his place sometimes, but I don’t know his new friends. The music is strange. The smoke stings my eyes. Screams in the kitchen, strange laughter. Sadness mumbles something garbled, maybe in some exotic language he’s picked up. His friends laugh uproariously. I smile politely… the merry bonhomie leaves me feeling stupid and disconnected. As I go away into the gentle night, I can still hear Sadness’s twisted laughter entertaining strangers.

Your grief is sweet
Your memories are precious
I’m a good listener

Hour Four – Just for a while

I don’t understand

Why are you smiling,

When the world around

us is dying.

I don’t understand

Why are you smiling,

When there is nothing else,

Always just crying.

I don’t understand

Why are you smiling,

When in our wings

There’s no more flying.

I don’t understand

Why are you smiling,

When long time ago

you gave up on trying.

I don’t understand

Why are you smiling,

Please leave me alone

…just for a while.
