The Monolith

The monolith sits reaching for the sky
My gun in hand I aim and slowly fire
Time slows, I watch the bullet as it flies
I wait and watch I know I cannot tire
She waits behind me with a book in hand
She watches too, although she cannot know
After this moment here upon the sand
The bullet’s distance is where we must go
A boat will take us to a distant shore
The water: time, we travel to our past
The world we knew was never so much more
Than rocks which tower never built to last
The bullet strikes I put away my gun
The monolith collapses in the sun

Hello Love, Prompt two

I’ve missed you,

Actually I never knew you,

I’ve been waiting, and I know you’ve been waiting for me too,

You come and you surround me whenever I’m feeling blue,

An agape love, this is what this is,

I’ve awaited your gentle kiss upon the crest of my lips,

You flow through me like the wind on the sails of a ship.

I hope that you forever remain in my grips.

Hello love, I’ve found you.

Prompt 2

how easy

when the shadow
falls between us

when the sand
enters the sea

when the mist
blurs and blinds us

how easy to forget
when we are

we are now

Imagine – Poem 2/24

If you could imagine it…

Where would we be?

To me it seems that we are

Like two ships passing

And briefly connecting

Then sailing off again…

Each to their own destination…

If you could imagine it…

Just try to think of

Where we could be right now?

Imagine…

HOUR TWO: INTRODUCTION

don’t say a word, it’s been said, it’s been heard

leave your head hanging, just like that,

the moment’s dreams have been seen,

the moment’s needs have been met.

Hour 2-Fairy Dance

   MOONLESS SKY

Fairy dance

A vacuous void above me

Around me

Twirling me into space

I am unleashed

by their brilliance

By their melodious whispers

They feel close enough to touch

They dance at my fingers

Incandescent fairy-light

A transfusion

A glittering glow

A gracious gift

I spin and sputter

A mere mortal

Tasting the heavens

Leaving

It was unlike anything I could have ever imagined.

I never thought it would hit me that hard.

He was supposed to be there

But I should know by now that nothing ever goes as planned.

I never even got a chance to say my goodbyes.

It’s probably for the best.

I was never good at those anyway.

The Second Hour: Forgive Me, Love

Forgive me, love.

I feel you pacing, your feet wearing a path back to the past

Only to have the present creep in with each dawn.

Forgive me, love.

I hear the little hiccup-sobs you try to hide in the folds of your pillow

Tucked away with all the other tear stains you won’t let me wipe away.

Forgive me, love.

I can see the lines of your body stretched rope-taunt with anger.

(There’s fear too, but you won’t admit that, even to yourself, and certainly not to me.)

Forgive me, love,

For burning bridges instead of building them.

Compared to the vast gulf of our silences, how can a hand-span seem so far?

Smiling Sun-Ray

image
A smile and a ray of sun
both can brighten someone’s day.
A smile is a twinkle in the heart;
a ray of sun is a twinkle in the soul.
A smile is like giving a flower to a child;
a ray of sun is like a hug to a parent.
Everybody needs a smile and a ray of sun.

Guns and Amo

We met at the beach and fell in love.
Unnoticed, sands of time removed the veneer of romance.
Now, beneath a hotel beach umbrella, we sit in our circle of shade, she with her guns and me with my amo.
