We were on your father’s boat
the dog went overboard
your mother was convinced
that there were bull sharks in the water
the propeller skipped off of the sand
and your dad dragged the dog out by its collar.

We were on your father’s boat
the dog went overboard
your mother was convinced
that there were bull sharks in the water
the propeller skipped off of the sand
and your dad dragged the dog out by its collar.
Reedy and husky voices ascended in unison
gyrating and sauntering crowds accompanying the all too familiar Jerusarema drum
unleashing a cloud of dust its almost palpable
What a night
the gaiety of Youth
A stories passed on overtime,
Mama found a good old dwarf.
His nose was point and sharp,
And he calls out mom by playing a harp.
It goes on and on until late teens,
Before the dwarf was forgotten.
His voice sings a visayan song,
That calms the lake and mystery.
He lives across the mango tree.
And often times his out and free.
He was never heard since,
One of her childhood memory.
Probably, he only connects to young hearts,
With magical thoughts,
My mom lost it all after teens.
And so her little friends was never seen.
So is she.

Hour14, Text Prompt14

He is a commoner
A man who believes, life if he works hard
Wife husbands accompany each other in the shade
Are taking steps in their journey
Time separated them.
The hill stood in the way of their lives
Took away his pleasure.
Knows what loves are to the bare hill
Know what the responses are to the boulder
It has become a monster that creates dangers.
It is like putting a foot on its heart and looking for a way out.
Is to seek their own death
The death knell is constantly ringing with accidents.
There was no one to turn the hill with their hands
Dasharath Manji was furious
Wanted to crush the hill
No one said to shake hands.
However, his foot did not move forward.
The fight with the hill began.
Twenty-two years in the war
The hill bowed and gave way
The anger on the hill had subsided
The hill that separated the wife
Remains of winged birds.

Hear one, hear all, listen to my tale of woe
I’m a vivacious 12-year old, with a wolf’s appetite
But alas! I have lactose intolerance
All my favourite things that I lust after
Are not meant for me, I eat them only in my dreams
O! For chocolate boats loaded with M n M’s and delectable chocolates
Bobbing along a river of thick viscous chocolate
I wish to dunk in, swish-swoosh, the river bathes me
In its chocolaty essence
The melted chocolates play a dance of sin on my tongue
I close my eyes and open my mouth, the rainbow above
Empties into my mouth, milkshakes of every colour, every flavour
This is bliss; I wish this never ends
Duh! It was only a dream
And without complaining, I cheerfully gobble up my oats milk and granola
This is the real deal, afterall, eh?!

Secret Love
Bottled feelings and
side swept glances
silence the middle
of our conversation.
You hide the love
you share,
unspoken aloud.
When will you try
to ask if it’s
reciprocated?
Life is short
or endless.
The result ultimately leaves you breathless.
So why wait?

I’ve been told you can grow from love
no matter
which part of it you are holding
I was on the giving end
rocking through manipulation
relationships so pale they glowed
a half vanishing dilemma
teaching me that one can also grow from pain
Packing lighter
harder to unravel
no longer fearful of missing out
I long to give up everything
there are no comforting excuses for anyone’s behavior
that makes me tear out a page
of myself
I knew I had to eliminate something
so I told my children stories
so they could see my human
and not hold me to the sky
I tell them to place my feet on the dirt road next to yours
allow me to stand in the shade with you
let the air wrap around us four
like a hug
I am just like you
We are in a moment
that will pass soon enough
see me as someone
you can hold understanding for
