2… Analog poem. photo incoming.

Internet failed and my photo didn’t load.

I will correct this injustice when I retain home.

Here’s hoping my poetry still counts.

Poem handwritten in black ink with cursive writing on an iPad Notes app page.

Handwrit poem reads:

2… Analog Poem: A handwrit Tanka on my iPad

Each poem struggling
lost within my failed iPhone.
I choose to return
to handwritten pieces-
paperless poetry.

Peek-a-boo

Peek-a-boo

Oh yes…I see you too.

Even though you know my name, but hey…

Boo is cool too.

Roses are red violets are blue

These words will ever remain true

So I tried to find a rhyme for the word beautiful

I don’t know, somehow I always ended up with you.

Like a Giraffe in a Sideways World

Like a giraffe in a sideways world
I take up too much space
the others say I don’t belong
I’m an absolute disgrace!

Like a giraffe in a sideways world
My feet never land on the ground
I feel I float with my head in the clouds
my multihued dreams, they abound

Like a giraffe in a sideways world
I have a different view
No one can really understand
No one gives me my due!

Like a giraffe in a sideways world
when everyone’s world is straight
I’m forced to live by boring rules
That boring old duffers dictate!

Like a giraffe in a sideways world
I know of pleasures none do!
The others then are bugged no end
That fact they cannot chew!

Christmas Angels on a Snowy Eve

Hour 2 Prompt 2

Christmas Angels on a Snowy Eve (inspired by Robert Frost)

Amid a winter’s walk profound

With starlight whisp’ring soft around

The moon stretched long her guiding light

Toward a peaceful, soothing sound

Angelic voices in the night

Led me toward a joyful sight

On dunes of bluelit, moonlit snow

My soul arose with fresh delight

Vibrato, allegretto started to grow

Purest voices tiding ebb and flow

Bringing my being to swaying and swing

‘round a celestial ring aglow

I wish to touch a gossamer wing

Wish permission for all I’m seeking

That with the angels I might sing

That with the angels I might sing

A promise in the jungle

The forest is pregnant with uncertainties.

Each time I wade into its gripping darkness,

I think of the snakes, leopards,

And all the other creatures in the wild

That strikes fear in our minds…

The forest is pregnant with uncertainties

But uncertainties are not always of the frightful.

Some good do come out of uncertainties

Like the joy that comes after nine months of pregnancy.

Each time I step into the woods,

I remind myself ,

I have promises to keep…

There is salvation in the forest,

And knowledge is like a deep forest

That can hardly be fully explored.

Each time I wade into the forest

I hope to emerge with the promise of a better life,

I hope to discover that great treasure

Which I promised my father

To find and use to fend the next generation

And give them the life of bliss

That I never had.

Though the forest is pregnant with uncertainties,

But I have promises to keep.

(But I have promises to keep. – credit, Robert Frost culled from the poem… Stopping by woods on a snowy evening)

The Woods (Hour 2)

Whose woods these are I think I know

The same as has been since before

Our kind came and knocked them down

To build timber, cities and towns

They belong to the trees

The animals, birds, and the bees

The collective keeping them alive

So they can nurture you and I

Whose woods these are I think I know

They are not ours, of that I’m sure

And they never ever will be

Bound to persist after humanity

Credit for line 1 and line 9: Robert Frost’s “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”

The Call That Broke Me (Hour 2)

That evening when the call
came that broke the news
that broke my heart
the receding sun was a dark ball

death in the house

my heart sank
like an undermined building

mama gone?

this isn’t just a death
it’s THE death

and you said to me:

Cry, it will make you calm
suffer your tears to flow
they’ll someday dry

but no –
my tears flow still
when, like a hollow gong,
that voice rings in my head

death in the house

that evening
the darkest evening
of my life

is forever etched on
my memory’s wall

Line 21 borrowed from line 8 of Robert Frost’s

Before I Sleep

Prompt 2: Read Robert Frost’s poem Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening,  chose one line or phrase, and with credit, write a poem with that line or phrase in it. Prompt partially contributed by Se Johnson.

Before I Sleep

~willjxn~

Before I sleep I’ll make a list

of things to do but to resist:

The garden needs some flowering,

The office needs un-towering.

The kitchen sink needs dishes washed,

The table needs the bread crumbs tossed.

The toilet needs a good scrubbing

My wife’s sore back— a soft rubbing,

The book at hand needs me to read.

Now add to this, I’ll write this screed.

Dogs need their walking

Granddaughters un-squawking

I’ve miles to go before my need,

for good night’s sleep, my conscience heed.

Weekends

Do you have rules about work

He may work a 9-5

But if I work a 12-9

And sometimes a 10-10

But occasionally a 1-3

Who wins

To the boy

There is a boy I had once known

Who was always quiet and always alone

He never had friends and never would talk

He always kept his head down when he would walk

I never spoke to him or tried to be his friend

But I somehow knew he had scars to mend

So maybe “known” is not the word that should be used

Because “knowing” and “know of” must not be confused

Sometimes I wonder about him even though it’s been years

What was the reason behind his unshed tears

Why was it that he always seemed down

What was the cause of his constant frown

Years later I wish I had at least flashed him a smile

Or even offered him a simple ” hello” once in a while

Too dumb and stupid I was back then

The naivity that comes from being a grade 10

So to the boy who always covered his face

Just know I wish that I had given you just one embrace

You are still thought about to this day

And wherever you are, I hope you are okay
