Bringing Out My Best

A Triolet

Bringing Out My Best

Ideas flow when doing mundane tasks
Mowing the grass brings out my best
Poems unfold and plots unmask
Ideas flow when doing mundane tasks
Needing a pen, I reach for my flask
I should be writing but flop down to rest
Ideas flow when doing mundane tasks
Mowing the grass brings out my best

Cowrie

Look me in the eye for twice in June

Cuddle my eyes till the noon falls

Ring my cowrie bell by moon

And stay cool before rude

I shall pen to book

Fill it to full

O’ so cool

I am

Me

12.

At my subconscious landscapes’ mercy
Opened to the inner life by sleep
Let voices usher me in
I am here to receive
Nightmares scare me still
Dreams tell me I’ve
always been
free to
be
be brave
And see what
Comes in the walk
The road bleak unseen
Walk and it will appear
You’ll know you are welcome here
Step by step, inch by inch you’ll find
Your life in your goosebumps and your mind

friendship

when days were long and I was saddened

your kind sweet words were the best med

just knowing you were near by

brought a smile and no tears

friends for many years

are hard to find

we are two

it’s true

love

“Household Maestro”

“Household Maestro”

Bing, bang

Ting, tang.

I make my music from household things.

Cling, clang

Sip, slurp

I could make my music all day long.

Wham, bam

Tick, click

Even I’m getting annoyed from it.

Prompt #12: nonet

Chipmunk nonet ~

Today I watched a chipmunk savage my sunflower seedlings,

digging with furious claws at the seedling pots

snuffling up an errant seed like cocaine.

No wonder no sunflowers ever sprouted!

Instead, one chipmunk grows sleeker

emboldened and sunflower fed.

I watch unobserved.

He devours

unaware.

Rock, Paper, Scissors – HOUR TWELVE

Rock, Paper, Scissors

(Inspired by my painting, ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS)

They challenged us.

Rock, Paper, Scissors, a game of competition,

create a painting with this theme.

Being one who dislikes competition

and the oft arising conflict,

I determined a way

to unify these disparate parts.

Scissors formed trees.

Stones became rocks.

Paper created ground texture

and paint detailed and unified the whole

Are we capable of re-writing our conflicts in this way?

Can love and acceptance provide the paint

and our actions be the brushes

to unify us,

to bring all people together?

Mercy –Show Mercy from Within

Mercy –Show Mercy from Within

Mercy, let it flow from you

Let it flow from within

Deal mercifully with me, and with you –

Indeed, with them, and with us

Forget not goodness and tender mercy

Do you know any that couldn’t use some mercy?

If you be rich, and so think

That, “This mercy thing –not a need for it

Money can take care of it, whatever I need”

Wait till the unwanted strike

(and they strike, just when is what’s unknown)

And money doesn’t smile with you, e’en though you may have it

The mercy you’ll seek with bitter tears

Cannot be purchased with your golden pocket

Have mercy, show mercy, it’s an investment for you

Power –do you know any with power till the end?

There’s none in all the children of Adam and Eve

It’s for a season and a time

It soon fades even before you fade

Let it not intoxicate; it’s only a guest, it’ll leave

Ask those who’ve had it massively before

Have mercy, you’ll need mercy, so give it,  you’ll be glad you do

Degrees Of Separation

There are so many miles between us

Yet I can look at the night sky

And know you can see it too

The same stars as I do

Despite the distance

It brings us close

I feel your

Presence

Near.
