Running (double nonet) – Hour 21, Prompt 21

Running, words jammed together in here

mind is jumbled, not very clear

four more poems, tangling hair

nouns thrown through morning air

fresh picked verbs, bulbs rare

one more poem done

bedtime, I

now need

run

except …

running will

never be done

three more times, more words

a million more puns, ones

my mind is afraid to wake

possible great mistake I make

in the end, I’m still writing, running.

  1. Well done, Sandra. You turn it around and yet end up where you started, creating a circle that feels like writing sometimes. And yet you have moved forward. Having done the 12-hour, I didn’t get to this prompt. Guess I’ll head on over the check out the second half – looks like some good ones to play with!

  2. You captured the feeling of late in the marathon. I liked the phrases “mind is jumbled” and “nouns thrown through morning air”–nice imagery. The shape adds to the poem…running down (to one-word lines) and then still going up to longer lines…nice.
