A 24 word poem

Hear this decree
that I mean to cause violence
to any who oppose
listening to those whose voice
was taken from them by force

Let the song play

We sat there in silence
neither of us had anything left to say
I could see the hurt in your eyes
and you could feel my anger
As I tried to figure out if this was over
I realized my phone was still playing music
As I moved to grab my phone you stopped me
saying you just wanted to hear the chorus again

To Haunt This Pen

Again I have need to haunt this pen
for again you have forgotten my words
and have ceded your power to another
I see this hold she still has over you
but I do not know how to rationalize it
You have retuned to following the rules
of one who never truly saw you

I do not know how else to tell you
that you deserve to be more
than her proof that she is a good person
This hold she has over you
was solely her way of controlling you
But to perpetuate her voice in your head
will only cause you distress

The weight of the baseball

There is a loneliness to the mound
when you start to loose your control
Your breaking ball that refused to break
now sits five rows up in the stands
Now, all of a sudden you cannot throw a strike
having walked the next two batters

The pitching coach has come and gone
reminding you to take a breath and refocus
Your infielders have grown quiet
they know how important this at bat is
The only sound you can hear
is your grunting as you throw each pitch

This will be your last batter
you can tell by the look on Skip’s face
And by sheer force of will
the first two pitches finds the strike zone
Breathing out slowly as you come set
you go into your motion to get the third out

Introduction

I write because I have to. I share because watching people connect and resonate fuels me. Making my words available means everything linktr.ee/thepoet_rajah

This event is really just an excuse to get my voice out there and see what I can do when I put my mind to a certain task. Especially one that looks so daunting in the beginning. Also my editor says it’ll be good for me. So here we are.
