Gransha Grounds

Gransha Grounds

The sun sits high in the sky

Radiating heat as I pass by

Tis a fine summers day,

Even the rabbits have come to play

Sounds of Nature ring out on Gransha’s grounds

It’s the weekend, there’s not many humans around

A stretch of the legs, was the order of the day

It’s time to go home and make the Tae!

7071 – A message

7071 – A message

In 7071, a young couple moved to a new home.

Exploring the backyard it was obvious it needed,

Care and attention to relive its former blossom.

They started digging at the back fence,

Breaking ground and a few feet down, they found a bottle.

It looked old and stained but they could see white paper inside.

They thought whoever buried it was clever.

The bottle was glass and made of silicon,

therefore it wouldn’t rot and hurt the environment.

The note read:

Poetry helped me survive the dreaded and unknown Covid-19

Only my words and memories distracted my fragile mind

Each time I felt a struggle, I kept pen and paper near by

The struggle was real, lack of leadership from government caused chaos

Rightly people were scared of the unknown. We pulled though.

You don’t have to, but, can I recommend Poetry?

P.s You never know what your words might mean to someone oneday. I know Poetry isn’t for everyone but even if you just write for yourself then you may find it helpful as a coping mechanism

Kind Regards

Brian

P.p.s Your words are worth writing.

Humbled (Cont)

Humbled (Cont)

You don’t have to hear the words spoken to hear a voice.

Read what they’ve written with care and attention.

Look beyond our own voice and feelings.

In person, facial expressions and body language speak loudest.

Watch, show understanding and empathy.

The person may thank you, they may even feel humbled that you’ve heard them.

Especially family and friends.

Paths

Paths

Follow me for I shall guide you

Follow me for I shall guide you

Follow me for I shall guide you

Follow your own path? I know the way.

I know the way, I ‘ve walked it many times

I know the way, I ‘ve walked it many times

I know the way, I ‘ve walked it many times

Still! You want to walk your own path?

Fine, you follow your own path

Fine, you follow your own path

Fine, you follow your own path

Your own Path! It’s wrong, we’ll see!

You got here but how is that possible

You got here but how is that possible

You got here but how is that possible

You’re sure you followed your own path?

I’ve just learned a very simple message

I’ve just learned a very simple message

I’ve just learned a very simple message

Many, many paths lead to the same destinations.

Árainn mhór

Árainn mhór

Wind-swept, still we board the ferry

In the port tidal sway is not too bad

Venturing out to the open sea stretch

Portholes dip drastically below water levels.

Céad Míle Fáitle – A hundred thousand welcomes

Residents so relaxed, Also, the most friendliest too.

The Pipe Band my reason for visiting this beautiful island

To teach my role however time disappears here, it’s a delight

A golden beach, Lighthouse, lakes and rugged cliff edges

I’ve seen them all, picturesque scenes like no other.

The bars open late, when they close, the disco starts.

Ceol agus craic to be had by one and all.

Arranmore, yes the island of the West Coast of Donegal

Not the Aran islands of Galway or the Scottish Isle of Arran.

If you have not travelled here, I recommend it at some stage,

I’ve not been to the later two but there’s only one Arranmore

The Ending

The Ending

A text arrived. “can we meet tonight?”

rapidly I replied “Off course, i’d love to”

I was madly in Love, therefore blinded

with a glowing heart and beaming smile I set off.

“This is my dad” introducing me on my arrival

“Nice to meet you”. the first meeting since we started dating

when we entered her house, things were different

no embracing hug or kiss. Still I did not see!

Sitting down next to me, her quietness confused me

No eye contact and a soft voice, “This isn’t working out”

not quite the whole it’s not you, It’s me scenario

dumbfounded and devastated. Did i hear that right?

Both of us were adults, yet i felt like a little boy.

Heart broken and fully aware it was over, not a break.

Any other dialogue is a blur, well, my side of the coin

leaving for the last time, she gently pressed a kiss on my Cheek

Sitting in my car with my head down on the steering wheel

tears freely flowing. I didn’t move for twenty minutes

it was then I realised, I was so blinded by love

with my guard down, The ending shattered a fragile heart.
