The Poetry Marathon

Sisters are God’s gift to the world.

They are there when you need a friend.

A common heritage that can never be changed.

It matters not the age or the lack of a common interest.

The mere fact that a sister provides a link

to the past and to the future will give comfort in dry times.

Sisters can share secrets.

secrets that no one else need know.

Secrets of life, secrets of love.

Secrets of days gone by.

The closeness that may sometimes fail,

but need not fail

when you remember you share the same DNA.

DNA won’t make you alike,

but it’s the knowing that women share

that makes us part of the kindred spirit of sisters.

The world is full of music.

The music of the heart

It sounds with each beat.

The rhythm of life it steadily keeps.

A heart of music; a melody blend.

The pulse of each vein

that mixes  with time and breath.

tap, tap, tap goes the beat.

The sounds that penetrate

and permeate the ears.

something that rests in the soul

the beauty and the magnitude

that draws us to the primitive call

of love long since forgotten.

Music of the heart

is like a babbling brook

with a gentleness

only music can give.

ebbing in an easy fashion.

penetrating the soul

as it courses through the veins.

All sounds don’t blend

to make a concerto so sweet,

but from the discord

other sounds escape

to claim their rightful place.

The falling of a rock on dry crusted land,

or the belch of a volcanos roar.

All blend together

to make a melody

of unparalleled magnificence

that only the heart can discern.

Music that will stir the emotions;

settles the fears;

calms the mind

as it relaxes the spirit

Nothing else can soothe like

the sound of music.

What is life if you don’t have friends?

friends are people who share a common bond;

the bonds of life and common things

like the fall of leaves and the smell of grass.

shared ideas and a likeness unencumbered

by barriers of race, creed or color.

Friends lead to friendships

a kinship like no other.

The ability to laugh, to talk and to share

the commonalities that make us all

the same, but different in so many likable ways.

It’s hard to imagine life without a friend.

After the rain

the sun will shine

though clouds may still linger

still showing signs of gray;

those clouds must give way to a brighter day

filled with promise and hope

that all is right with the world.

After the rain

the green grass

stands tall

The flowers

in splendid glory

take note and smile

a beautiful smile

of recognition

that they have not long to live,

but their beauty unparalleled they long to give.

After the rain

all creatures

great and small

bask in the fragrance

and luster of drops

that make puddles and lakes

a place to enjoy and shed

their cares of life

washed by cleansing

drops of rain

ready to endure a new adventure

that life will unfold.

After the rain

After the rain

all the earth is a new

after the rain.

The freshness, the purity;

none can explain

what magic

of life endures

until after the rain.

How deep is deep?

can you really go deep?

Is deep more than

surface and skin?

I want to look deep

deeper than I’ve ever looked before.

I am not sure

what I expect to see.

I wonder

if what I am looking for

is the real me.

It’s almost time to start the marathon and I am about as ready as I’m ever going to be. Let’s make this a great marathon everybody.

Writing down the words

can be hard,

but

not saying them

is even harder.

This is just a test to make sure I’m in the right place. I’ve joined the writers of the Poetry Marathon 2022 and I am getting all pumped up and ready to go. Success to all my fellow poets. Creativity is but one word a way.

Hi, everybody, I am glad to be a part of the Poetry Marathon 2022. I am looking forward to reading all the great poetry that will be created during this marathon. I am getting myself mentally and physically ready to make some positive contributions to the process. Good luck everyone!!

A nose is a very important thing.
It helps you find the fragrance of life well lived.
Some noses are big and other noses are small.
some noses have trouble smelling anything at all.

Some noses get in the business of others because they have none of their own.
some noses can smell trouble a mile away; some noses can smell trouble, but have very little to say.
A helpful nose knows when something is wrong and can smell a crime before things can get out of hand, but it’s funny how these noses never want pay Or recognition if they are being of service to their fellow man.

A nosy neighbor can be a pest, but they can come in handy if they are not afraid to speak when the time is right and make it their business when they are needed in the fight.
Everybody’s got a Nose whether it works as designed by our maker above.
It is very much needed even if it takes up too much space.
It’s a marvelous thing to have in the center of your face.
It’s your nose and it can never be replaced.

Every time I think about the awesome responsibility that parents have to pour into the lives of their children, I think about the legacy of life and The gift they will leave to all Mankind.There is no handbook that comes with the lives you create, but it is through sheer strength of will and determination that will ultimately result in a human being who is an extension of who you are and for all to see.
It doesn’t mean your way is the best way or the only way, but the final result can’t be denied. Sometimes you may try to do it all right, but that doesn’t guarantee perfection; it just means you tried.
