Hello all
This is my 4th full marathon and the countdown begins
24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
I'm that awkward position between life and death
Hello all
This is my 4th full marathon and the countdown begins
Return Gift
Do you remember the gift you gave me
When I was small?
You had said that I would become powerful
When I wield it in my hand
As thoughts flow
Now I realize how mighty the pen is
All your life you preferred to be an unknown writer
I follow your footsteps father
And know that the pen was just a symbol
The real gift was your inheritance as a writer
You left for the heavens
Half-way through your autobiography
I shall complete it for you
And that will be my return gift to you
Hour 24
Treasure Tortoise
My silver-shelled tortoise
Wades through the eternal water
Looking for treasures
While I sit back
Of treasures even gods would envy
The mighty oceans rage unbound
Throwing up all trashes
Half consumed by humans
“This is what we get from the seas, My Lord,” he retorts
The price humans pay for neglecting earth is unbearable
If more and more seas are poisoned
There will be no treasures left in the deep
To revive the purity
“We must keep searching,” I said
Karma will soon catch up
Hour 23
White Plume
Who knows from where
The white plume flew
Making the green undergrowth its home
Perhaps a little egret
Pampered, lost and lonely
Left a trail for its mischievous lover
Hour 22
Coffee
Storm brews in the beans
Gathering a smell of chaos
The froth at the top
Is stirred up and laid down
The cup that holds the brew
Waits for an airlift…
And melted coffee mellows in the mouth
Hour 21
Candlelight Dinners
Countless stars
Holding numerous candlelight dinners
Eager to celebrate
The rise of a new dawn
And adorn the crown
Of the morning golden light
Hour 20
A Game
A consciousness joined in numerous strings
A universe bound by laws and anti-laws
A cosmos held together by jellyfish
A proud abyssal deep sea looks on
A jellyfish moves
A cosmos breathes
A universe shakes
A consciousness strikes
A game continues
Hour 19
Holiday Trip
An idea to take a holiday trip
Sprouted in the mind…
Soon things got rolling
Co-travellers check, packing check, tickets check, hotels check
Check, check, check
Last minute items too
Everything is in jeopardy it seemed
The next thing
We know in Rajasthan we are
Absorbed the hospitality, local cuisines, exotic places
A vortex of sight-seeing lapped up our bodies and minds
Local markets ever lively, and gifts are for all
City hopping from Pink City Jaipur, to Ajmer, to Blue City Jodhpur
From Lake City Udaipur to deep deserts of Jaisalmer
The gods of Rajasthan, a lifetime isn’t enough to see
To fill you up whole is the secret promise of the land
The sands of time acted very fast to end our fantasy
Hour 18
The Yellow Telephone Booth
The Yellow Telephone Booth
Now a stand-alone monument
A lot of talk and carried-away gestures
Concealed like a visitor’s book
People wanting to be wired now
Hold each other in their pockets (without wires)
Coveted glances once upon a time
Worn off the mixed yellow tint
Who knew that nostalgia is a thing of the past
Hour 17
