Weave a web of silken lies
And repose in the centre
Wait until you see some flies
And bid them please do enter
Admire the jewel tones of their eyes
While tying each blindfold
Gag them with luxury ‘til each one dies
Smothered in the threads of your silken lies
I love the imagery of this poem, especially the “jewel tones of their eyes.” I like the twist on the “gilded cage” idea and blending it with the “web of lies.”
Thank you! I didn’t even think of that, the gilded cage, but you’re right.
