Pandemic
Mask who you have become
because you can not let lethargy
be around the next corner.
Make the most of pandemic.
Zoom like you mean it.
Tinkerbelle will lead a strange brigade
of lonely fireflies above the treeline
past the Cohousing cottages
into the sky and then to the stars.
Don’t bottle up this strange energy.
Eat it like porridge.
Feel its heat.
Because who you thought you were
no longer exists.
Zoom like you mean it! Harvey, I’m so glad to find you here doing the Marathon!!! I’m doing the half marathon this year. My name is “Nancoise” here (if you want to search and find me). I just finished a heavy Spring term and am starting to go out and sit in yards. If you’re around B’ham, maybe we can meet in your yard or at the beach (I’ll bring my own chair). I hope you and your family are well 🙂 XX
Thanks for the note Nancy!
I’ll look forward to getting together.
We have a guest spot with chairs set up in the front yard where it’s easy to stay ten feet apart.
Let me know when is a good time for you and we can get together. Maybe Jeanne can join us again.
Best wishes!
Harvey
Hello Harvey,
I really enjoyed this poem of yours! Great use of the word list. Especially drawn to:
Tinkerbelle will lead a strange brigade
of lonely fireflies above the treeline
past the Cohousing cottages
into the sky and then to the stars.
And your potent last lines!
Thanks so much!
This prompted me to look up my ending!
Look forward to seeing you soon!
Harvey
Harvey this is fantastic! I really loved this stanza:
“Don’t bottle up this strange energy.
Eat it like porridge.
Feel its heat.”
Thanks for the feedback!
I appreciate it!
