Poem 1 Hour 1 Image Prompt 1 In My Dreams By Ingrid Exner

In my Dreams I Soar-

Phoenix-like I rise above,

buildings reaching toward,

Sky dotted with clouds.

Delicate wings flap-

Lifting—Propelling—Soaring

through space.

Dreamy clouds dance

with me as I,

Breathe freely—

for the first time!

Clouds gently pass,

Space clears—

Openness appears!

I am Born Again

in this space

of Being!

Once cushioned by Clouds,

My Vision now cleared-

I stop—pause—inhale and,

Breathe that Breath,

long overdue!

Filled with Breath and Knowing,

I fly back down into

that clouded space

Holding onto —

Memories.

  1. Thanks Mark! This was another poem that when writing, I didn’t knw exactly where it was going but, it sort of wrote itself into being. I’ve read it aloud a couple of times, and I am beginning to like it even more. It is a toss up between submitting this one, the penny idiom one or the haiku on aging… Maybe I will flip a coin…

  2. Thanks Susan! I think that I am submitting this poem along with the penny poem. I think they balance each other well. And, the freedom and especially breath work that I express in, In My Dreams is very important now and post COVID.

    1. Thanks Cindy! I didn’t know where I was going with this one but as a yoga teacher, I speak about breath often and this year, the ability and preciousness of our breath was emphasized and it came outin this poem…clear thought and clear breath…
