On the thirty-second day of January
I visited the strange new zoo
so I could say, “I’ve been there, too!”
The monkeys were lazy and sleeping a lot,
The elephants were trying to hide
and as I walked by, the hyenas just cried.
The eagle was such a bore, because he would not soar,
The polar bear wandered into the tropic zone
while the whale and the penguin fought over my ice cream cone..
What a strange zoo, indeed!

I love the images this conjures up! The first line is an attention grabber and the humorous tone is great. I was smiling the whole time while reading. A truly delightful read!
This was a fun poem, turning more than one animal on its head!! Yes! I have loved what you and other folks did with this hour’s prompt!
Thanks, Christy. I noticed that the poems for this prompt were well done by others, too.
