Just before darkness….
Honeysuckle sweetness hangs in the air
Like syrup on cornbread and pancakes we share.
Crickets are chirping their evening song,
Croaky old bullfrogs singing along.
New-mown hay in the field ‘cross the way
Sets the stage for the next act closing the day.
Take a deep breath as you prepare to behold
Simple pleasures and joys the time before darkness can hold.
One dandelion wish for a break in the heat,
A quick offered prayer for a peaceful night’s sleep
As the sky in the west glows a pink ribbon lullaby
Bidding this day goodbye.
