In the honeymoon phase

I could find a hundred and two ways

to say I love you

and what I loved about you.

Your laugh

Your smile

Your long eyelashes

Late night back rubs

Early morning cuddles.

And somewhere along the way

Life butt her way and

Then came

Long hours

Short weekends

No more date nights

Up all night with the baby

Washing endless loads of clothes

Play dates

The 1st day of school

Dance recitals

Forgotten errands

Midlife crisis

Menopause….

And I don’t even know

Why

I love you anymore

But I know

That I love you.
