The Last Leaf at Myrtle Beach
The last leaf at Myrtle Beach.
Holding on for who knows what.
His friends have all preceded him,
alone in the sand he lies.
He is unattached with no
commitments. Red with
embarrassment about his
predicament.
Waiting for the last wave
to carry him to his watery grave.
He leaves a shadow in the sand,
does the last leaf at Myrtle Beach.
beautiful … I enjoyed how the simple single leaf at Myrtle Beach took on such a life and personality. I felt the alone-ness of the single lead=f but not a loneliness, rather an acceptance of life’s passages.
Thank you Carol. Another one of the fun ones to write. In 2019 when we were walking the beach at Myrte-actually Surfside section- I saw this lone leaf and could not resist taking a picture.
Great, unusual and fun. A great ekphrastic piece.
Thank you Caitlin. A fun piece for me to write
This poem was fun to read, it really humored me.
Thank you Angel. Glad you liked it. Was a fun piece to write.
