Here We Go!

My name is Liz, but I usually just go by CoffeyWrites on all my socials. This is my first attempt at the marathon and I was very ambitious in signing up for the full shot! I’m currently trying to put together my first collection of poetry so I’m hoping this can be an opportunity to get into a flow and make something happen to get it finished. I’m based in Rochester, NY and have an adorable epileptic beagle named Molly, who I share with my fiance. Excited to get to know all of you and do this thing!

Introduction

Hello,

My name is Erin Rice. I am currently a student in college. I am so excited to be able to be a part of this marathon! I am currently studying English, and I hope to make a living with my writing once I graduate. I fell in love with writing when I learned that words have the power to heal. If my words can help just one person, I feel like everything I have been through was worth it. I am hoping that I can accomplish some great things during this! I have already told everyone that they cannot call or text me Saturday. I know I will get distracted if they do. I cannot wait to learn more about everyone and be able to experience this with everyone!

Happy writing!

Introduction

Hello! This is my third attempt at the half marathon. In my first year, I think I made it 8 hours. Last year, I couldn’t even start as I was overwhelmed with quarantine and its challenges. I hope to actually finish the half marathon this year. I have cleared my desk, saved photos and songs for inspiration, and am trying to clear my schedule as much as a mother of two can. Let the writing begin!

Denise Krebs Trying to Be a Marathon Poet

Hello, my name is Denise (My username here and on Twitter and Instagram is mrsdkrebs). I am an American living in Bahrain, teaching English to elementary students. I’m married and have two married daughters. We will retire at the end of 2021 and return to the California desert to live.

We are out of school now for the summer, and our country is currently under lockdown trying to fight the Delta variant of Covid-19. I don’t have any idea how it is to try to write a poem every hour for 24 hours because I have never tried it, but this is the year it may work. At this time in my pandemic life, I don’t have much else on my schedule because we only go out once a week or so for groceries. I’d rather write poetry.

I have always written poems in school as a child and with my own students since the 80s, but in starting in April 2020, I began to write poetry in a writing community at Ethical ELA. That’s when I fell in love with poetry. I blog at Dare to Care.

Hello everybody!

Hello everybody, my name is Double-AA-battery, I am 11 years old. I currently live with my mother, and grandparents, in Chennai, India. I love English, I don’t know why, but I just do. During the the 2020 lockdown I decided to start a blog site where I upload my poems weekly: https://doubleaabattery47546474.wordpress.com/.

My First Marathon

Hello, I’m Valarie Kirkwood and I have been writing since I read the poem “Who has seen the Wind,” in second grade, ages ago. My nom de plume is V.J. Kirkwood. My poems have found their way into two college English department journals, the Kansas State University “Discoverer” and the Cameron University’s “Rose.” The short story is my main genre, but poetry has my heart. I love the rhythm of poetry, the rhyme of the movement.

I am looking forward to the marathon to see if it draws out my best.

I want to wish everyone the best and Happy marathoning to all.

Hello from the Central Valley, California!

Hi everyone,

I’m a first timer here, ready for the half marathon. My husband and two doggies have generously conceded space for me to do my thing here this Saturday and I’m psyched! I have spent my first year in retirement writing, taking classes and learning, and have great hopes that this endeavor will help me stretch my craft and imagination. Wishing my fellow poets all the best this weekend — and here’s to creativity and joy!

Introduction: Erin Lorandos

Hello! My name is Erin and this is my first year participating in the Poetry Marathon. I’ve opted for the half, since I can’t run very far 😉
I’ve been writing poetry in earnest since middle school – mostly free verse, and found poetry, and recently have become enthralled by Haibun. I am also interested in fiction. I won my first NaNoWriMo in 2020! I love challenges like this, and I look forward to reading and learning from you all, too! Thanks for having me!
