Tonight #14

Tonight I watch the stars
Thinking of the skies that are past
In a place I cannot go to anymore
Missing you laugh at something I said
Your eyes mirroring worlds I couldn’t see
Knowing so well I was caught in a whirlpool
As your hands reach for me
And I take it without hesitancy
Wishing this night would last
As dark as it may be.

Prompt 22, Hour 22

You are almost there. I’m sorry, this is the hardest part, but I think it’s time for another image prompt. Please choose one of the following images and write a poem inspired by it. All but the second image are from Unsplash (the second one I took), all are free to use however you wish.

Sunrise #13

If you go to the lake between the mountains
At 5 in the morning in the Fall
You will see Little Tommy and his dog
Readying their wooden boat

Little Tommy wears a red scarf
And yellow beanie with a hole
His brown jacket is faded thin
His necklace holds his mamma’s soul

Little Tommy is quiet
You can greet him but he’ll just smile
Some days if you look closely enough
You can see some tears behind his eyes

Little Tommy sits in his boat
Waiting for the sun to arrive
He wields his powers of serene silence
And brings calm after a chaotic night

Little Tommy hums a song
So quietly even he strains to hear it
But it’s the song he sings every morning
Along with the cold wind that blows

Little Tommy does not have much
But he never fails to show up
It’s the little things that count, his t-shirt says
It looks like he painted it himself

Little Tommy paddles back to shore
Gently smiles at you again
And you wonder at what humanity is
When you think of him again

Beasts

Maps of discovery carved with claws

Boundaries drawn and scratched on skin

And within

Adventure tasted through teeth

Tearing at clothes and what lies beneath

Tangled truths gasped unaware

A web, a trap

Spun from half discarded underwear

Patterns etched with firm hands

On a soft, pale,landscape

And the white flag risen in surrender

Is grasped, clasped

With both hands

‘Mine’ she gasped

And declared

Watching intently as both his teeth and his passion he bared

In one last bid to save himself from her savage claim

Before becoming fully ensnared

A beast about to be slain.

(Hour 21) 18.30pm-19.30pm. PROMPT: long for

respiration

i only have one brother ;
i know with some certainly
i no longer have a mother
either loving or damaged;
it’s probable my father too
long estranged from us
is also particulates of dust
blowing in the streets
of whatever city he fled to
when he gave up his parental
benedictions & obligations
shortly after Rueben arrived ;
& i have one new acquaintance
who for all his overwhelming irritations
may yet become a lifelong friend ;
yet all i require at this moment
is the chance to catch breath ,
a semi-second’s rest , a mid-act
intermission to recover ;
before plunging forward
to rescue the most precious
stray boy on the planet

Prompt 21 ~ Post #21 ~ Peace

I am longing for my son

to have peace in his life.

As he is suffering from the loss

of losing his wife.

I hate to see him hurt.

I hate to see him cry

and although we prayed

I still ask God why.

So ask for his healing

day by day,

As he is struggling

since his wife went away.

Listen to your environment

Things talk to us but we have gone deaf to listen to them speak

They tell us to be careful, the stone on the road tells us if you hit me you’ll be bruised and most likely fall

The puddle of water tells us your leg will get dirty and if you continue doing it, you can most likely get athlete foot

The naked connected wires on the floor tells us to be careful else we will be electrocuted

The blaring of horns tells us to be careful else we will be hit and we might die

When we see the pharmacy it tells us if you’re sick buy your drugs here lest you die

Even snacks talk to us, you’re hungry i am sweet eat me but first check the expiry date else it will lead to food poison

Even our data tells us to read more about an app and the restrictions and also about our privacy but no we don’t even bother

We have becoming deaf not listening or caring about our environment or what they say to us and when we fall into danger we start asking God why??

Let us all become sensitive to avert the impending dangers of this world that we caused

7:00 p.m the long waiting

In the middle of autumn his comings were stopped,

the well was rebuilt, but no more buckets, just rain drops.

The biting doubts broke her peace of mind,

the teasing eldest sister was always behind.

She set her mind like a clock ( twice per year):

“I need to wait, he could not disappear,

leaving so many traces on my lifelines,

hypnotizing me with a gentle voice that shines!”

Longing

I long to find ease.

I long to find rest.

I long for a lover who’s up to the test.

I long for a morning with nothing to do.

I long for world wellness

and for world peace too!

Longing

I’ve learned not to long for things

Not out loud anyway

In case it makes the pixies

Remember what a sense of humour is

And execute some swift response at my expense.

I’ll keep shtum, lips pressed together

Heart beating lightly and perhaps

I’ll permit me an inkling of

Something in my mind’s eye.

It feels fake to be needy when

I have more than many.

But when I’m sure the pixies are sleeping

Or elsewhere making their special brand of mischief

I might open a magazine or click on a link

I might just allow myself to think

Oh about what?

Shhhhh!
