“(Hour 8 of 12) emotional emoji”

You said you liked to text, asked he.

And smirked, do you ever emoji?

I look at him with scorn.

Such poor wit, such corn!

Emojis are fine enough, I proclaimed.

But they are still so limited, I declaimed.

There’s never enough of them distinctly,

To capture my thoughts succinctly.

Prompt #12: Thank you, Lord

Thank you, Father, for this day.
Thank you that you knew of this time long before.
Thank you that you are not surprised but remain in control.
Thank you for your forgiveness, that you will always love me.
Thank you, Father, for your plan for my life.
Thank you for your protection of my family and me.
Thank you for my home and my dog.
Thank you for your guidance in every day and every way.
Thank you Lord, for all.

Leg Lifts – Hour 13, Prompt 13

Every day, at the witching hour
I do this chore expected
not by anyone but me
and my doctor if left uncorrected.
I spend my last vestige of energy
doing leg lifts.

Up, down, in and out,
In a loop, day in and out..
Leg lifts are safe for me.
With an injured back and
a pool that’s closed, it’s leg lifts for me.
Every day at the witching hour.

The Guide to Making Up

The Guide to Making Up

  1. Take the brush and paint

a smile, lips curving

around gritted teeth.

Make sure the liner

stays within your lips

and doesn’t bleed, doesn’t

show him what’s real.

  1. Take him by the hand,

Cock your head and smile.

Bat your eyes and say,

“You coming?” Grin.

  1. Close the door behind

you, watch him turn the wheel

as he finds your spot.

No streetlights, no cameras,

a few empty cars

around so you don’t

look too suspicious.

  1. Let him grab your hair

as he breathes in deep

and exhales your soul,

plasters it against

your pale clammy skin.

  1. Close your eyes and stop

your heart from pumping.

Stop it before

It aches, grows weary

with reality.

  1. Know that what you’re doing

is for the best.

Whoever said happy

wife, happy life was dead

wrong. They never knew

what it’s like to be

that wife, putting

make-up on to hide

the tears that stream.

Potage Parmentier

Potage Parmentier

The Pratsch Rose

Was passed around

To invoke the gentle potage

As in the kitchen, I danced around

I asked for a consensus

Hot or cold I inquired, a decision tricky

Five for hot, three for cold

That made it tricky

But fortunately it was already cool

So the warming was fast

As I hopped to the table

To this festive unfast

“(Hour 7 of 12) season of the sea”

How idyllic, says he.

What else can you tell me?

For in all honesty,

Full disclosure is key.

It was a Channel crossing,

From Dover to Calais,

The sea was rough and rousing,

And walking was like dancing a ballet.

I had no sea legs, I was reeling,

My wits and breakfast were all asunder,

To the loo I went a-heaving,

Old Davy Jones had his plunder.

I never felt this way before, nor since.

For I have a strong constitution.

And little makes me wince,

Nor stir my noble disposition.

An American’s Poem

We are light and dark.

We are trapped in between

and

Yet my country still stretches from sea to sea,

the rocket’s red glare gleams for you and I,

the pledge is to the united states

for all

and

“this is where I am.”*

Tiger! Tiger! burning bright

In the forest of the night

What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry
