Fade to White

And so she looks a little pale
her snow white robe is torn.
Each one of us will try and fail
and all of us will mourn.

Her alabaster angel wings
from stony plaster cast
spread wide above my everything
the one I thought would last.

In the West the ivory
is worn when we are wed;
but in the East the milky pearl
is color for the dead

All ships on the horizon slowly fade from sight–
all colors of the rainbow slowly fade to white.

Prompt number 10

Write a poem about color

We eat with our eyes

I think as I prepare our simple
Saturday supper.

Boneless loin pork chops, browned

in olive oil with garlic and sliced

green peppers that slip from

bright to muted as heat softens them.

When the pork is done, (no more pink),

I plate it with peppers casualy draped on top

and a side of bright yellow polenta

flecked with green and orange from

shredded spinach and carrot bits.

Taking a look, I am satisfied

a work of art on a square white

china “canvas.”

Soon each canvas will be scraped clean

awaiting tomorrow’s work of

culinary artistry.

Hour 10

everything rhymes with orange

red ocean waves

blue sun rays

purple sandboxes

and cyan berry pie

green valentines

rose pumpkins

black ice cream

and pink parsley

turquoise daisies

yellow rain puddles

lavender footballs

and white box theaters

Opened book for my Dad

My love never goes away
Every moment you pull farther away my heart waits for understanding why you stayed away
I have grown up so I know my heart is open and you can filled your empty pages
I just want answers but if you can’t answer I understand the process of adding new chapters
You don’t have to show me love mom stepped up and did her part and overtime

now that I’m older I just want to give my love to the ones that made my life possible even it meant just the littlest time I had left
spending every moment counts in my book even if it’s not a lot just a little that’s enough to finish here take a look

peeling off white

peeling off white

Don’t be fooled by the colours on my skin.

Don’t you be fooled!

I hide red under rainbows of ink

over white scars

torn by moments of doubt

as to who I am.

peeling white off red

like paint off rust

red off white

off red off

white off red

like it matters

really.

Don’t be fooled by the colours on my skin.

Don’t you be fooled!

Things always look one way

seem one way

to hide realities in the soul

from a world that would

hate all I am

if I were otherwise.

peeling white off red

like paint off rust

my feet hit the red road

with dreams of mountains

drum songs

and starchildren.

All that ink hides all that skin.

Would it matter if it did?

Would it matter if I was who I am to the world,

where colour matters

when it’s not white.

Would it matter?

Would it?

Of your individual
Eyelashes each one

Poem 9

Good morning

the sunflower radiates gladly

Everything welcome.

Flowers in party clothes
Dancing merrily with everything

Flowers with thorns
Smiling
Oh, such strength!

criticism, praise;
Thorns and flowers
both have their uses.

Oh , such harmony!.

What a bold display
courage to stand out
With love and friendship

Nimru the Shadow Thief

Beware simple merchant traveling with rich wares

HIs price is always right but the cost ensnares

Delicious sweets, gold or bountiful seed

All with foul taint to make a soul bleed

Your neighbors covet and cannot stay away

Everyone withers and falls into dismay

Their shadows scream and twist into nil

Bent fast to the Shadow Thief’s will

The day after greenish horrid things rise

In the night listen for their sorrowful cries

The Shadowless wander forever bound

Seeking lost shadows never to be found
