Bittersweet Finality

Itzpapalotl stretches her obsidian butterfly wings into meteor-streaked skies
The muses reach for final burst of inspiration, scavenging words from dreamscapes

Words jotted down in notebooks find their final form in lines
Not so much written but intuited by zombie-like autopilot mind
All the remnants of ideas unformed nearing completion
Dive into the deep end, pull the last glistening threads from dreams of those asleep
We creep towards the finish weeping tears of gratitude

Anticlimactic poetry addicts beaten and drained by 24 hours of pleasureful pain
Finally able to rest our aching brains trying to process what the fuck just happened

An Amateur Poet

An amateur Poet

Doesn’t write a poem

Only the heart is written

The pages are filled

Words are trashed

Pens are changed

Places explored .

An amateur Poet

Writes what she sees

She remembers her past

Brings back all the memories

And stores them

Between the lines of those pages.

An amateur Poet

Don’t know the styles

No prose, No haiku

She writes in a tune

Remain in her world.

An amateur Poet’s poem

is untouched

She doesn’t know

About the edits

About the drafts

She bares it all.

An amateur Poet

is innocent!

The Office

The file room
Now it’s my office
Small and complete
Quaint and cute
Many people come in
For the files they use
Eleven co-workers
In one department
Over four thousamd files
Needing kept up and seen
But also they come in
Needing everything!
“Can you get this?
“Can you do that?”
“Get me this report”
“Provide me this stat”
“Do you have time
to look this up for me?”
“My pleasure,” I said
My co-workers, their family
I’m with them half my day
I live in this small place
The office they call it
What a state!

Prompt 24: What Poetry Did While We Slept in V2

Bleary-eyed, now listening to documentaries for audio stimulation,
after Rosanne became too annoying,
I lean back, dully realizing that only a few hours previous
I’d been dancing to the Pixies in my living room.

I stayed awake with Poetry; Poetry kept me awake while keeping me in a dream state,
through which I struggled, then revived, and cat-napped 20 minutes before The Who’s
“A Quick One While He’s Away” pulled me upright from the sofa.

Will I commit this sanctioned madness again? It’s likely.
But, for now, I want for nothing more than to not open the blinds,
pretend the sky is still dark and sleep soundly,
with Poetry waiting where I left her.

Poem 23 — Hidden Places

You rest easily
In privacy,
You sleep peacefully
In private,
Embracing the genuine comfort of the mattress overtime hours of a job you despised bought you.
It feels like Heaven,
Not blue sky without clouds,
Without the Pearly Gates,
Not the place grandma resides,
The room that’s dark not depressing,
Bringing out the blessings
That bond in you,
Distribute in others,
The inspiration that brings out hope in others,
Gratifying the existence of the misfit.
It is a room,
No! It is a place of pleasure designed and dedicated to the peace only lived and felt in a pinch of many places.
It solidifies hard work, love and peace.
It is the light that sheds in my soul and expands my hopes.
I spoke in one room,
Yet I really speak highly with favor of my home,
The sound setting of my most awkward thoughts,
Please respect my place of peace.

Tough Grandmama

I refuse to wait for the opportunity, so I borrow a bike from dad.

Its not a mountain bike nor is it a fixi,

its only a leisure bike,

and all of the bikers would steal a glance at me and the bike,

sometimes simultaneously.

I fixed my gaze and my focus,

only at my goal.

Toughen out myself to get out of bed early,

force a meal before started the journey,

and going all out when riding.

I never thought a grandmother could ride a bike faster than I am.

Bashful at the losing spree,

again I created my new goal which previously focus on slimming.

To defeat those veterans every morning.
