PCOS: CLEAN EATING

I’m free

from bonds of addiction

from bonds of guilt

from fun accoutrements

that make a meal a festivity.

I’m free

dairy free

wheat free

sugar free

I define myself by the things I miss but I call it freedom.

Her House

She watched

As new life appeared

In the old dead house

She watched

As the couple held hand

Looking fondly at their children

She watched

As siblings giggled

Fighting yet united

She watched

As they made her home

Their home

She watched

As the husband drank

Wife pleading him not to

She watched

The playfights turn serious

With broken bones and relationship

She watched as the wife made mistakes

And the whole family breaking

She watched

As the head brought a gun

Quivering in his hand

She watched as the possessed man shot

The girl, the boy and his love

She watched

As he used it next on himself

And lying in a pile of bodies

She watched

As their beautiful home

Turned back to her dark one

Goldilocks to school

Kevin looked out the window
The little blonde lass bounced away to her nursery school
Her little green skirt swirling around her chubby legs
Her blonde hair tucked under a red cap
Snug in her red jersey
But he saw little goldilocks
Straddling away with papa bear
The large black beast of warmth
Ambling beside her on all fours
They followed the sly golden fox
Alert to the very hair to its glistening tail

The pink nd blue smiley walls
Behind the rustling shrubs

PCOS: SWELLING

My body of water is the Pacific

a fluid flow

expands, recedes

a tide of discomfort

too small, too big for one pair of jeans.

Doctrine

I don’t believe in the god in the box

cramped by corners of predestination

elbow room cut by eschatology

hemmed by rafters splintering doctrine

God’s expanse is bigger than your belief

or your forked tongue of unbelief

and his ness is beyond accredited description

and correct Greek translations.

I don’t believe in the god in the box.

Across a crowded room

Our eyes meet.

I hear a thousand words

Pounding through my heart.

Rushing through my brain.

Across a crowded room

We smile.

I feel a thousand shivers

Dancing up my spine

Tumbling into my stomach.

Across a crowded room

We remember.

I see a thousand memories

Captured by my desires.

Singed with your rejects.

Across a crowded room

We turn.

I sigh a thousand sighs

Squaring up my shoulders.

Walking away.

hour four

in the house we’ve
visited many times
a different person
The china vases
are now all gone
the door in the hall
full of poetry books
the new owner wrote

It was normal to me

It was scorching hot

and it was mid summer

Mama and Papa had gone to the relatives

Leaving me under the care of Chris and Kirk.

Kirk was looking at his left

Not eyeing me

But he’s eyeing the hawker

who was selling ice-cream

at the side road

I kept pestering him about the graffiti on the wall

how I would love to add

green, pink and orange

on the male Asian Black Bear of his

He just glared at me

and sticking his tongue out

trying to show his annoyance

I skidded one,two steps

when Chris called from the front

“Stop, it. You’re gonna get tired”

Kirk and I looked at each other

and giggle were left out

so abruptly

“Where are you headed”

“So hurried

so enthusiast”

“I’m going to find the treasure

no matter what”

“O’ really!”

Me and Kirk both answered

almost simultaneously

Chris just shook his head

lightly

We are almost there

The pottery plants are starting to show up

‘20 more steps from here’

Chris was thinking of a rag doll to be played with

Kirk was admiring a cold, sweet and alluring milky ice-cream

and I was impatient to seat in the shades, away from the heat.
