Hour 8 Prompt – Did I ever tell you?

Did I ever tell you, my mother?

Your heart is an ocean of love,

You fill my life with all the rainbow colours,

You always protect me against life’s blowing winds,

You are my blanket of warmth.

Did I ever tell you, my mother?

Your smile is my inspiration to live,

I always admire your patience in tough times,

You are a pole star in my universe,

A guide, a light…when most needed.

Did I ever tell you, my mother?

I can see the tears in your eyes when I am unwell,

Such times bring me even closer to you,

Your indomitable will surprises me,

Your tender care always makes me feel better.

Did I ever tell you, my mother?

Every time when I fall at life’s unexpected hurdles,

I am not ashamed of myself,

As I know you will never judge me,

You make me feel that I am a winner.

Did I ever tell you, my mother?

I can never repay you for all your efforts,

The way you take care of your children,

From breakfast to our late night dinner,

I can now understand why God created a mother.

I will tell you now, my mother

After all these years,

Before it gets too late,

A few words to express my gratitude,

I am proud to be your daughter.

Bodily Desires

Heart beneath the surface,

pumping blood to the body,

it has a purpose,

connection aligned for your well being,

life continues for you as long as its beating.

Graceful Heart

The fist shaped ventricular,

Circulating my blood

Keeping even pressure

Except, in fight or flight

Beating too hard

Too fast

Where am I to run

As I lay resting, it slows

Rhythmically beating

Even, without my emotions

Retreating

Slow and steady pace

If it should ever stop,

My life

Would fall from grace

Johnny and Cash

Johnny and Cash loved the sunset
People loved watching them
Sitting on huge rocks as the tides pulled back
Watching the sunset in its glorious orangy reddish hue
People marveled at that too
One day Johnny came alone
People wondered why
Cash had gone to the other side explained Johnny
The other side of what the people wondered
The people felt sad for him
Quietly whispering at Johnny’s insanity
The people were watching him still

Goddess Hour

I feel the soul stirring in me the rising of ancestry in me the warrior queen in me
That fight till death in me to claim what’s mine in me
I feel the calm of the storm in me that will once again rage against the sea in me
That loud yet subtle voice in me to speak up for what’s right for me
That woman in the darkness for me that blesses matter with life for me that wills light’s manifestation for me
That strength of the universe for me that creates all life for me that stands strong for me and shouts from the mountain tops for me
I feel love for me that one thing that makes everything worthwhile for me.

If I could

If I could, I would wish away my handicap
Cerebral Palsy makes it hard to perform tasks
Normal activities that others take for granted
Often present many problems and challenges

If I could only make my right side strong
Life would be different, and not so hard
Driving anywhere, anytime could become a breeze
And, cooking meals would not be considered a chore

If I could use some proper household tools
My hair would not be so hard to manage
Outside work would become a snap
And, I could help my family more

But, as I ‘ve learned , this world is full of struggles
Although, disability has become an accepted word
Through constant family love and support
It is something I have striven to overcom

Commitment

From this day forward
hand in hand, heart to heart,
our souls are one.
We will accomplish all
without much reservation,
and all will be done with our love.

Hour 7 Prompt – Unthinking

A day when you relax,
You just sit next to a window,
And maybe chase a passing cloud,

You don’t think about the next hour,

Or an hour that just passed.

You hold a good book,

Read page after page for hours,
Live a character of your choice,
Sip by sip conquer your sleep,
And feel the warmth of your arms.

You cherish the peace that surrounds,

Ecstasy of doing nothing in a day,
Just being in your own skin,
And just unthinking and thinking,
Thinking about doing nothing!

The house dog, our burglar alarm

(BURGULAR, BURGALAR, BURGOLAR I can spell it as I like

proved forgettable after all.

Here I am on another computer, having ridden the first one into the dust.

The marathon goes marching onCoo as steady as the drum on the galley, pounding out the rhythm so the oars do not become tangled,

While my tangles bipolar brain

is racing up and down the aisles of my minimart life

jumping up and pulling things off the shelves in a jumble of joyful anarchy.

Cookies crumble as the packages are rent assunder.

How pleased is OliverthedogofGraceWiebenga with himself,

Diving in the dinky dumpster of disturbed demented  distress,

Mixing metaphors with similes with a toothy smile like a cartoon dog,

Muscular tail wagging so vigorously that delicate items must be taken to sanctuary for preservation.

‘Who can resist such joyful abandon?

We roll on the floor and tussle with this aging puppy, murrrmufrring love sounds.

There’s a boy, that’s a boy, It’s such  a boy, such a good boy, yes we are, oh yes oh yes oh yesssss.

Finally we find the special spot that soothes and does not excite, and things calm down enough

for words to emerge instead of inchoate thoughts and  cavorting emotions.

OliverthedogofGraceWiebenga

Sit.  Stay.  Good dog.

Quiet while I save this and publish it.

I know.  No fun.  More fun to tear apart the toilet paper rolls.

But let’s compromise with the other people’s world,

the calm ones who walk with feet on the ground.

Good dog,  OliverthedogofGraceWiebenga.

Lucky Muscle (Hour Fifteen)

Lucky that cardiac muscle

Is involuntary,

Otherwise we’d be in trouble.

What if we forgot to make it beat?

Or just didn’t feel like it today?

Like a folded fist

Nestled beneath the ribs,

The four-chambered life pump

Sends oxygen-laden blood through arteries,

And retrieves deoxygenated blood through veins,

In an endless life loop that we barely notice.
