Hour 12 – Five Words

Lucky Day

A camping trip deep in the month of June,
the two of us came here without a care;
under the stars there sang a single loon
as my true love released her flowing hair.

The need within her eyes outshone the moon
it seems the lake held magic and to spare;
‘Neath canopy of stars and nature’s tune,
the glory of her form would be laid bare.

#12 – The Girl of ’92 (Word List 8 of 8 used)

I knew i liked her from the start
eighth grade glory at the lake … and girls
she was tall and lanky, just like me
no fat to spare and ribs like the grill of a jeep
with two little headlights adjoining her breastbone
her blond hair dyed green like an amazon canopy
hiding the eyes and smile held underneath
She played baseball, swam, and liked to moon
We met at noon, became friends at one,
by two we were rowing clear across the water
to the island of romance and sandy rendezvous
and panic at three when she asked, may i kiss you?

Prompt 12: The Werewolf

I loved him so hard there was no room in my heart to spare
For any other feelings when he took me
Out to the lake that night. Through the canopy of trees,
The full moon illuminated the planes of his face
I thought, oh finally  when he pulled his shirt over his head
I longed for the courage to trace the line of his clavicle,
His breastbone, to caress his chest–
But I didn’t dare.
Unbuckled his belt, then the leather swish

The musical jangle as his jeans hit the ground
And his body was bared
To me. So great was my desire
That I felt no panic when he, bathed in moonlight,
Split his false skin, shucked it off and
Showed me who he really was.

I didn’t even scream
At the sight of his full glory.

A Poet’s Nightmares

Snoring loud mouth of crumbly words,

In a strange and twisted grammar and jagged phrases of

Slime letters, weaved with saliva and drooling in a gelatinous stanza.

Poets tossed and turned a Haiku into Tanka, in deep slumbered,

Drowned in a free flowing Sonata.

In a crystal clear river of no rhythms and rhymes

And woke up at the wrong side of the bed and

Forgot the tetrasyllabic murder she wrote.

too much has been said.. enough hasn’t been said.. two different theories swirling in my head of what was what ifs what could’ve been.. i analyse every fragment every segment every nuance to such tiny infinitesimal detail that the subject remains foggy to me.. i am now beginning to forget the subtle art of being you and the feel of your touch.. if only i could let the memory last as alive as it was yesterday or even the day before.. where every pore on my skin breathed your name and would stand up in attendance the minute you laid a fingertip anywhere on me..
